CETAPHIL Sheer Mineral Face Liquid Sunscreen is an ultra lightweight, 100% Mineral UVA/UVB filter sunscreen designed for daily use on the face. The sheer formula was developed with sheer zinc to provide maximum broad spectrum protection in a serum-like formula that applies easily to skin. I was so pleasantly surprised by this sunscreen! Even with it being spf 59, it had very little white cast. There might have been a small one initially, but it went away after blending it in well, and then completely disappeared after being on the skin for a while. For reference, I have a light-medium olive complexion that has a high yellow undertone and tans easily. I don't find too many untinted mineral sunscreens that don't leave a pretty bad white cast on me, but this one didn't.

This has become my favorite daily spf. I reach for it constantly. It is light and applies well under makeup. It does not leave my shiny or greasy as the day passes. It has no scent and does not irritate my eyes. I really wish they made a tinted version of this! I have fair skin. Initially there is a slight white cast but once it dries down it goes away for me. I also layer a tinted spf over it to even out my complexion and provide added protection.

I’ve been using Cetaphil products for the past 20 years, and with very few exceptions, it has treated my sensitive, acne-prone skin well. This product is one of those exceptions. I recently used this during a summer vacation (preceded by Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, aloe vera gel; and Cetaphil gentle moisturizer), and within a few days of regular use, my face started to breakout. I ended up with a giant, red pimple on the side of my nose and a whitehead by one of my eyebrows. Once I figured out what was happening, I stopped using this, and aside from the painful acne that had already formed, the rest of skin went back to normal, and I resumed my daily Cetaphil SPF 15 moisturizer, which as been my go-to for a long time. Fortunately, this product worked well for my wife and kids, so I’m giving it three stars, but I will never touch it again.

i really like the consistency of this, it’s like the beauty of joseon tinted sunscreen, but if that sunscreen did not have a tint. i was using it as a face and neck sunscreen but i think these are too thin for that; however, it is great for my combination, sensitive skin :) also no white cast, yay!

I’ve seen all the bad reviews about the white cast & I agree it’s complete false advertising saying it’s sheer. But it’s far worst then the aesthetics! It has many harmful ingredients that aren’t necessary & with safer alternatives. Here is just one & the side effects… Aluminum Dioxide — Constipation: A common side effect, particularly with regular or high-dose use. Hypophosphatemia: Long-term use can lead to low phosphate levels in the blood, especially in individuals with kidney problems. Aluminum Toxicity: In patients with impaired kidney function, long-term use can lead to aluminum accumulation in the body, potentially causing bone disease (osteomalacia) and neurological problems (encephalopathy). Drug Interactions: Aluminum hydroxide can interfere with the absorption of other medications, making them less effective. I encourage everyone to be a smart consumer & research ingredients in your sunscreen, body care & food products. Don’t trust the hype or the all the wonderful marketing headliners they use to distract you from digging a little deeper. I also encourage everyone to send an email to the company, pointing out the ingredients that aren’t safe or have side effects causing all kinds of health problems & the facts to back it up. What they’re doing is no different then green-washing. My other complaint is the cost. Really? You’re going to charge us almost $13 for a 1.7oz bottle that’ll be gone within a week with everyday use? There are far better mineral sunscreens without the numerous ingredients with side effects/unsafe out there. That are tinted or truly sheer as well, at a much more affordable per ounce — like $1-$2 per ounce. This goes for all Cetaphil “sheer” mineral sunscreens, not just this one. Don’t waste your money & protect your overall health.
