The sunscreen serum from The Ordinary has garnered mixed feedback from guests. Many appreciate its lightweight texture and the absence of a white cast, making it suitable for daily use under makeup. However, some guests experienced breakouts and irritation, particularly those with oily or sensitive skin. Overall, it offers a hydrating feel and a beautiful glow, but guests recommend patch testing before full application to avoid adverse reactions.

Absorbent & Light! Love this formula! It was easy to layer over my serum and moisturizer. It almost feels like you’re wearing nothing. My sensitive skin hasn’t had a reaction and it works.

Very negative experience
I couldn't believe how fast my skin went downhill using this product. For context I have a normal skin type, sometimes tending towards dry, and have never experienced a reaction to a skincare product. This SPF gets 1 extra star because I liked the consistency and it settled well without leaving a white cast on me (though I am very fair.) Everything else has been awful in my personal experience. Day one was perfectly fine, but by the end of day two using this sunscreen every inch of my skin was covered in small, itchy under the skin bumps. I can tell it was this product because even my neck and hands where I applied the excess are broken out. Such a waste and an unbelievable experience from The Ordinary considering how highly regarded they are by myself and many others.

It works!
As a sensitive and *very* fair skinned girly, I must say that this works to preven sunburn. I bought this so that I could stop putting body sunscreen on my face and was a little skeptical because I sunburn very easily. I took it to Mexico and did not have any sunburn on my face, neck or ears where this was applied. Highly recommend!

Exactly what I've been looking for.
This product is light, odorless, and perfect on my sensitive skin. It works great under makeup (no pilling, no weirdness). It's not super greasy, doesn't leave a white caste. High spf, and at a reasonable cost. No notes.

Stay Away
I tried this sunscreen cause I liked the price-point and enjoy all The Ordinary products I have tried, when I tell you this is the worst sunscreen I have ever put in my face... believe me. My skin burned and broke out so horribly and is still recovering after a week. I have oily skin but I would describe my sensitivity as normal. I genuinely am so disappointed in this product, and advise anyone, ever to read all these reviews and stay away.

Great budget Sunscreen
Love the lightweight of this serum like sunscreen. Hydrating and works well under makeuo. Gives that glass look people are always trying to achieve.

Just Ok
This sunscreen is ok — not terrible but not amazing either. My skin is pretty sensitive and reactive, but this formulation doesn’t bother me. However, it has irritated my eyes on occasion. It’s a little bit more shiny and dewy than I like. I like that it isn’t water resistant making it a lot easier to wash off. It’s challenging to find a chemical sunscreen that’s not water resistant. I’ll be finishing my bottle but not repurchasing.

Great for my Combo Skin
My skin is very picky about SPF produxts, this one doesn't feel heavy and greasy like most others. Doesn't break my skin out either. Lightweight and comfortable. Will most likely re-purchase.

Amazing for oily skin
If someone asks me for a good non greasy moisturizer that doesn't feel like sandpaper, I recommend this product.

Great SPF that works well under makeup with no pilling
I tried over 30 different sunscreens, using the recommended amount of 1/2 teaspoon, and they were all causing my makeup to pill..some minor pilling others severe, even after waiting 30 minutes to dry. The ordinary SPF 45 serum worked like magic. I waited 10 minutes and it was as if I was applying my makeup directly on my skin. It also stayed on beautifully the rest of the day.

Wanted to love this
I like the ordinary products but this didn't hit the mark for me. The formula of this product felt heavy and made my break out. Because of that I won't be buying again.

Not good under make up
I did like the feeling of this sunscreen and found it not to be too heavy. Unfortunately it caused my under eye concealer to break and appear patchy, I won't be purchasing again.

buying this again as soon as I run out!
as someone with medium to tan skin that's acne prone and very oily, this sunscreen sits so well on my face!! it blends in perfectly with no white cast!! which is something I'm so happy to have found in a sunscreen product. I have been using The Ordinary products for about three years now and I'm happy to say I haven't been disappointed by any of their products.

One of my favs
bought on a whim because I wanted to try it out. i did not know i would love this product! I love The Ordinary, great products at great prices. so i love that it doesnt burn my eyes, and there is no white cast. it does give that glowy effect after you apply it but its not too glowy. the consistency of product is more on the thinner side, its not as thick as a lotion and not too thin like an oil. the only con that i have is that i wish it came in a bigger size.

Would recemmed
I love this SPF serum. It doesn't leave a white cast! It goes on thick and looks SLIGHTLY shiny when you first put it on (I like this so I can see where I missed). But it totally melts into the skin after a minute and is great all day. Can't feel it!

Do A Test Patch
I used this and broke out with a lot tiny bumps. I have normal to dry skin. Unfortunately it took a few days to realize it this product. I would definitely recommend doing a patch test if you want to try this product out.
