It definitely scoops but the part that pushes the dough out of the scoop breaks and comes out of place. I had to hold it in place to make sure it actually scooped all the dough out while I was using it.

The mechanism on this is too flimsy. When the gear and teeth aren't properly aligned, the metal piece that sweeps the bowl to drop the dough out doesn't move from one side to the other--it gets stuck partway. This happens repeatedly every time I use it. The gear dislodges from the teeth, and I have to use a lot of force to put it back where it belongs. It would be easier to use a spoon.
