A: The poles are one piece and a fixed height. You can install the shelves to be lower on the poles, but the corners will still be the full height.

A: Yes you can easily by installing the first shelf on top of your fridge instead of the ground level. it's a sturdy structure. We did the same.

You can buy casters to screw into the bottom of the shelf pillars. Some casters are made of solid polyurethane, which is durable and can roll smoothly on various surfaces. I have three of these units and I intended to buy more but they are completely OOS. They are very sturdy and are great for smaller spaces. I have one in a closet holding automotive supplies, and two as plant and garden/home storage shelves. I don't understand the reviews stating they are not sturdy. These are heavy duty and I have them holding multiple gallons of paint, heavy bags of soil, etc. Please bring these back, Target!

Nice shelf, does the job.
I have a ton of these storage racks in my garage and basement in the silver tone. I got this one for my kitchen to create storage above my beverage fridge. It is not as sturdy and the metal tubes and shelves are not as strong/hefty as those, but it works for what I needed.
