A: Hi betty crocker! All of our products, including the 5.8 Qt. Storage Bin, are made of food safe grade polypropylene or polyethylene plastic. These materials have been approved by the FDA as food safe. It is the same material used to produce all of our food storage items. To ensure we offer only quality and safe products, no PVCs, Latex, Teflon, Phthalates chemicals, fungicides, Bisphenol A (BPA), or antibacterial chemicals are used in our manufacturing process. Sterilite does not use any harmful materials in the production of our products.

A: Hi BIGGUY! The 5.8 Qt. Storage Bin is made out of polypropylene and can withstand temperatures of as high as 180 degrees Fahrenheit and as low as 15 degrees Fahrenheit. At the higher temperatures, the plastic can eventually become flexible and could warp or deform. At colder temperatures, the plastic may become brittle and may crack or rupture. With repeat or prolonged exposure to these extremes will negatively impact the performance and longevity of the items.

A: Hi Rambo! The 5.8 Qt. Storage Bin could absolutely be stacked with the other items in this line, such as the 15 Qt. and 27 Qt. Latch Boxes. The 5.8 Qt. Latch Box has smaller measurements (Outside Dimensions: 14 1/2" L x 11" W x 3 1/8" H.) and won't fit exactly on the two larger items. The two larger items will have a more secure stack due to their Length and Width being the same. The 15 Qt. Latch Box has outside dimensions that measure: 17 1/8" L x 11 1/4" W x 6 1/2" H, and the 27 Qt. latch Box has outside dimensions that measure: 17 1/8" L x 11 1/4" W x 12 5/8" H.

Missing lid to storage container!
Ordered 5 of these storage bins. They only shipped 4 lids so one of my bins is without a lid. The product does appear to be of adequate quality but this website is not user friendly about obtaining the proper lid.

I've got about two dozen of these boxes. They fit documents well and stack nicely. I also use them for computer cables and the flat shallow size makes it easy to quickly find the one I want. Wish there were more colors.

I was given the wrong lids for the 6 containers. I called and was told to bring lids back and get the correct size. I drove back to the store and with the help of a sweet associate I searched for the lids. They were no where to be found. The associate could offer no acceptable solution. She said they couldn’t be ordered because the lids were free with the boxes. So now I will have to make another trip to the store to take both the boxes and lids back and still not have what I need (boxes & correct lids). This was a pick up order that has turned into an ordeal!

The bins are great. However, I put in 2 separate orders for these bins. Both of the orders arrived with missing lids. It is such a hassle dealing with this issue. Apparently whoever packs the online orders is not paying attention to what they are doing.

These boxes are exactly what I needed at an affordable prices. The reason for the low rating is that it was a TON of work purchasing them. I placed an online order to pick up at the store, and upon arriving to pickup my order, I was handed 8 of these boxes, loose lids, and sent on my way. The first issue is that there wasn't an area for me to set the order down and confirm it was correct, so I walked everything out to my car to double-check it. Quickly looked through the order and realized two lids were missing. Went back into the store immediately and was told to request a refund. The store personnel didn't even want to bother with making the order right by grabbing two lids for me or offering to let me grab them. Maybe they knew the order was wrong??? After I insisted, the employee disappeared into the store in pursuit of the two lids. A new employee arrived with two lids that weren't anywhere close to the correct size. She then took the empty bins, and after another 5-10 minutes, the original employee returned and said I would have to wait in line for a refund because they didn't have any. Got my refund and drove home only to realize that one of the lids I thought was correct wasn't. Out of 8 bins, three had to be returned. My advice is to save yourself time and frustration and purchase this item in-person (as others have suggested). If you need more than 5, you'll probably have to buy from two separate locations.
