Q: is it safe to put ice in it in the freezer? i’m looking for a box that can fit ice cubes so i can freeze more instead of leaving it in the ice tray.
A: Hello Jen - The 6 Qt. Storage Box is made of polypropylene plastic and is designed to withstand temperatures up to 180°F and as low as 15°F. At higher temperatures, the plastic may become flexible and could potentially warp or deform. In colder conditions, it may become brittle, increasing the risk of cracking or breaking. Repeated or prolonged exposure to these extreme temperatures can negatively affect the performance and lifespan of the product. I hope this helps! - Monica

At the higher temperatures, the plastic can eventually become flexible and could warp or deform. At colder temperatures, the plastic may become brittle and may crack or rupture. With repeat or prolonged exposure to these extremes will negatively impact the performance and longevity of the items.

All of our products are made of food safe grade polypropylene or polyethylene plastic. These materials have been approved by the FDA as food safe. It is the same material used to produce all of our food storage items. To ensure we offer only quality and safe products, no PVCs, Latex, Teflon, Phthalates chemicals, fungicides, Bisphenol A (BPA), or antibacterial chemicals are used in our manufacturing process. Sterilite does not use any harmful materials in the production of our products.
