5 Shelf Bookcase - Room Essentials™

Easy to put together and looks really nice. Definitely not amazing quality but you get what you pay for. They look really cool as a bookshelf wall in my front room. The one thing I strongly dislike is that there’s only one shelf for the bottom half. Who wants gaps that big when putting books on a shelf? I have bought quite a few of these over the years, and they tend to break when moved but I have always kept the shelves so now I have extra to get the look I want.

It worked out fine originally but it genuinely can't handle a lot of rearranging without snapping into a million pieces. I tried to move it when redoing my space and it literally snapped. Horrible quality. Great if you're looking for someone who is in their forever home/space

Very frustrated with this purchase - wrestled it into my car and up a huge flight of stairs, unpacked only to realize that none of the pieces are labeled and many of the shelves had scratches or chunks missing. I was initially going to purchase in the app for drive up, but then decided to just go into the store and purchase it myself because I was feeling bad about making someone carry this heavy piece of furniture out in the heat. Not only did I pay $12 more for the item in store than it was listed for in the app But now because I purchased in store I would have to repackage and return this item in the store. It seems that target doesn’t bother with quality control since I’m sure that they know that most people aren’t going to repackage this item and bring it all the way back to the store. Very upset and further affirms my decision to no longer shop at target.

5 stars for the value. It’s an affordable bookcase that will hold your books reliably. I strongly recommend you anchor it to your wall, the kit to do so is provided. Lastly, there’s plenty of assembly videos on YouTube you can watch to bypass the instructions for those that don’t do well with them (me).

I love the shelf. It is exactly what I needed.

We've bought and assembled plenty of Ikea billy bookshelves. This room essentials bookshelf was a better dimension for our space and had great reviews, but it doesn't measure up. Our billy bookshelf is taller, much more stable and much easier to assemble. Would be a hassle to return at this point, so we'll keep it but wouldn't buy it again.

I really like it, very easy to put together and I really recommend. Good Price and good bookshelf my box was a little open when I got at the store but the wood was in perfect condicions, for the price I recommend.

Missing 4 screws. It is one of the last steps so seems to be more work to return it. (4 purchased in total-2 missing the screws (8 in total)

Great simple & sleek bookshelf. Easy instructions to put together.

Very disappointing. The inside panels were not black as it stated now my daughter is overwhelmed with having to take it apart and put another back together. This is in the baby’s nursery and doesn’t match. What a bummer!

The quality is definitely cheap and one nail goes the wrong way and it’s destroyed. What sucks is the nails are the last step of putting it together!

Thanks for including the WRONG metal dowels. Seems like this is a common problem.

Its too cheap the back broke when we were building it

The bookcase is pretty decent quality for the price, but building it was a pain since not a single piece was labeled. It was a guessing game the whole time I was building it.

I disliked that my boxes were all damaged. One box was completely opened from the top side.

My box is missing 2 dowels. Now I have to wait until tomorrow to put together because I have to buy dowels. It would make it a bit quicker if the boards were labeled like other manufacturers do. Overall, if you can’t put enough or a few extra needed things in the box then stop selling crap. I’ve already started putting it together so there’s no returning now.
