Made it worse. It did nothing for pain relief and just irritated it way worse.

This product is intended for pain relief from cold sores, not to be confused with Abreva Cream, which is designed to accelerate the healing process of cold sores. Surprisingly, this product offered no pain relief whatsoever. I did not feel any pain relief or effects from lidocaine. I would not recommend this product nor will I be buying it again.

Be cautious of this product, I’ve use Abreva always from my yearly cold sores that happen around this time of year , but this product flared up my lip & made it puffy. Doctor believes it may of been an allergic reaction to it, so don’t make my mistake and stick to Abrevas other products…

We have always used Burt's but tried this because he had a major flare-up. It made him bleed, and one isn't healing. We switched back to Burt's, and it helped immediately. We won't be using this again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This worked surprisingly well in notably reducing the pain. I tend to get cold sores more in clusters, so this helped make me feel way more comfortable. It definitely does numb the area like cloves would to a tooth ache, but for small periods of time and definitely without the strong smell. For those interested in whether this has a strong odor, it really doesn't smell at all unless you apply a large amount of it. That's when a mostly metal smell comes out. As far as hydrating the area, it does okay in that department. It just likes to Crack quite unseemingly on the edges if you wear it for a while, so frequent application is needed to not make the area look unsanitary. Bur if applied often and if you lightly pat the area to clean it, this is a great help.
