Agri-Fab 120 in. W Tow Behind Spreader For Fertilizer/Ice Melt/Seed 85 lb. cap.

Just bought ...new and assembled ...Gear box cable and cheap plastic case doesn't work .. won't slide open or close door. Cable looks like it's all bent inside case

I bought this unit last week and it took a day or two to get it put together because they had sent two different Assembly Sheets for different models. Anyway this is a 45-05304 after I got the correct manual it went together in about 45 minutes. I watched the videos on YouTube and discovered that the pull tounge was different then mine. The videos showed two plates that the pull pin goes through but mine doesn't use the plates the pin goes through the tow bar. I used Scott's weed and feed and it worked great.

the control arm is very cheap, it breaks off easily and doesn't fix easily

I bought this product to use pulling behind my tractor instead of using my walk behind spreader. When I opended the box, I noticed NO written directions, just pictures which where very hard to follow. I feel if the written directions would have given me a full explanation of specific directions. Also, the parts on one page were letters while on the other sheet were numbers. They need to be the same. It finally was assembled after many hours and it works great.

This unit worked well the very first time I opened the cable operated gate. Once there were a few small fertilizer pellets in the gate mechanism, it failed to operate. The cable just flexed a little and the gate never moves. I had to open it by hand and then had a pile on the spinner and had to keep going until the hopper was empty. Even then, the sliding mechanism failed to operate due to binding. Cant believe that with a name like Agri Fab, you would put out a spreader with such a crappy mechanism. I have always liked the products. My dethatcher and aerator work great but very disappointed with the tow behind spreader. I didnt give it a total fail because it started out working like a dream until the first time i tried to close it. Probably should have been a total fail due to not even working when it is empty now.

The spreader is well built and sturdy but has one maddening quality....the shape of the bin is not conducive to having all of the granular material in the hopper drain to the outlet in the bottom. To get it to empty one has to shut off the flow, get off the tractor and manually push the last bits of material toward the bottom. Too much gets hung up on the little shelves on the hopper. It would be much better to make the hopper funnel smoothly to the outlet. Loosing some capacity would be well worth the added efficiency of the spreader.

It is not possible to set the amount of material spread to any degree of accuracy. You can set it so there is an insufficient amount spread or there is far to much material spread. There is no in-between. This is the key function of the Spreader and frankly it makes the piece of equipment unusable. Very disappointing. I would like to return it. But I have assembled it and tried to use it, I don't think they would accept the return.

I bought the 85 lb. tow spreader to use behind a zero turn mower (I had seen a favorable review for this application). The issue is that that the control cable actuator is too far for me to reach while I am traversing the lawn. I have attempted to rig up a control rod to the actuator, but have not been successful keeping it open because of the movement of the spreader and the mower. Do you make a control rod that can attach to the actuator?

I purchased this product today and used it the wire that opens and closes bent when opening the folw gate. I wasn't expecting much and that is what I got nto much.not up to the job

I bought the 45-05304 spreader and it works great but instructions to assemble the spreader were incorrect as the assembly of the control tube and tow bar need to be installed before the hopper is attached to the frame because the impeller covers the bolt hole to the control tube.

Should provide settings in PDF for use, not just on the unit. Also; provide top 5 setting for use of fertilizers, lime etc. as initial guide since these are to top products used.

Always an issue. Already replaced gearbox once, now having another issue. Setting plate nvr functions correctly and it’s impossible to find proper settings that match others recommended number.

The control cable for this unit is thin and too long which creates such tension that it is inoperable. Even if initially operable the durability of the control unit is in serious question. Do not buy

Bought this spreader last week and finally used it today with huge disappointment. The flimsy spreader selector is awful.. the cable that leads to the hopper is to long and therefore doesn’t slide the well, actual mine ended up bent (see photos) which rendered this unit useless..

Out of the box poor construction. Poor investment cheap junk

Works great setting information is correct pull it with zero turn mower setting handle is too far back to use from mower seat have to get off to shut Speader off and on. Plan my route so it is continuous pattern solves the problem

I just assembled the 85lb tow spreader. The wrench needle was a 7 mm not 7/16 the hitch parts are missing and the flow gate doesn’t close all the way. Not impressed.

Bought to spread lime, feet & grass seed on my lawn late spring. Easy assembly and works like a charm. Pulled behind my zero turn and my teryx

The instructions were poor and the control cable assembly did not work. The cable inside was bent and the cable did not stay on the assembly. I need to purchase a new cable assembly. The instructions were poor also.

Works well. Makes the task much easier. Just hook it up and forget it.
