I've been buying blink cameras since they came out - all battery powered outdoor ones. I decided to try these for the ability to view longer. I've never gotten so many notifications from Blink that my camera is offline - (I had only hooked up one for now). The other was in process - the amount of notifications told me that it seemed somebody was spying on me - it was unreal - with my battery operated ones they just quietly sat there picking up on whatever was walking by - but these - I've never had to clear out so many "your camera is offline" messages AND EMAILS! BACK THEY WENT.

Dear 24 hour hydrataion, Thank you for being a loyal Blink customer — we really appreciate that you've been with us since the beginning, and we're sorry the Mini 2 experience didn't match what you've come to expect from your outdoor cameras. We understand how frustrating it must have been to be flooded with "camera is offline" notifications and emails. That's the opposite of the seamless experience your battery-powered outdoor cameras have provided, and we can see why it felt excessive and unsettling. The Mini 2 relies on a constant Wi-Fi connection since it's a plug-in camera, which makes it more sensitive to network fluctuations than your battery-powered outdoor cameras. Those outdoor models check in periodically and only connect fully when triggered by motion, so brief Wi-Fi dips go unnoticed. With the Mini 2, even a momentary signal drop can generate an offline alert. A few things that commonly cause this: Wi-Fi signal strength — even small distances or a single wall between the camera and your router can cause intermittent drops on the 2.4 GHz band. Router settings — some routers aggressively cycle connections for low-priority devices, which can repeatedly disconnect the camera. Notification settings — in the Blink app, you can adjust notification preferences to reduce the volume of offline alerts while still keeping motion notifications active. We're sorry we lost you on this one, and we appreciate you giving the Mini 2 a try. Your long history with Blink means a lot to us, and we hope your outdoor cameras continue to serve you well. For the cameras to actually be somewhat useful you need to pay a subscription. They frequently disconnect and it takes 3+ tries to get them working again. They will not show or save videos unless you pay.

Keep in mind that you can adjust sensitivity settings in the Blink app and create activity zones. Each camera has a setting to control how responsive it is to motion. Low Sensitivity means the camera is less responsive to motion, so it takes more motion to trigger an event. High Sensitivity will respond to just about any motion like blowing leaves or rain. Set the sensitivity so that your movement is detected, then use Activity Zones to block out areas of random motion or reflections. The motion detection isn’t great, but it isn’t bad either. The installation was fast and managed to capture what was going on outside my home without me having to rush to the window, every time I hear a commotion (my street isn’t the safest). I’m satisfied with the Blink Mini 2, and I know that so will you. Give it a try. Totally recommend it.
