A: Hello J and thank you for your question! Yes, you can mount the Blink Video Doorbell onto a door frame using mounting strips to prevent damaging the door frame. The suggested command strips may not be durable enough to withstand weather, temperature or constant vibrations from the repeated door use. Yes, probably—but I would not trust a standard Command Strip alone to hold a Blink Video Doorbell long-term.
A Blink Video Doorbell weighs only a few ounces, but apartment doors experience:
Repeated slamming and vibration
Heat and cold changes (especially if the hallway isn't climate controlled)
People pulling, bumping, or tampering with the doorbell
Better no-damage options
1. Apartment door mount (recommended)
Search for: "Blink Video Doorbell apartment mount" or "no-drill door mount".
These mounts clamp over the top or side of the door and require no holes.
They are designed specifically for renters and are generally more secure than adhesive mounting.
2. Heavy-duty outdoor mounting tape
If you want to attach it directly to the door:
Use 3M VHB tape or 3M Extreme Mounting Tape rather than Command Strips.
Clean the surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol first.
Follow the tape's cure-time instructions before putting weight on it.
Things to check first
Make sure your apartment lease doesn't prohibit door-mounted cameras.
Verify that mounting on the door won't block the door from opening or closing.

A: Hello, Jt! The Blink Doorbell can be connected to the previously installed doorbells wiring in your house. If you do this, the doorbell chime will work with the Blink Doorbell. However, if you choose to power it with the battery only, the chime will not work in the house but will alert you on nay device the Blink App is connected with. I hope this helps!

Is it easy to install? Yes! The Blink Video Doorbell is designed for DIY installation and is one of the more beginner-friendly smart doorbells on the market. It works in two ways :
Wireless (battery-powered): Mount the included bracket, attach the doorbell, and you're done — no wiring needed
Wired: If you have existing doorbell wiring, you can connect it for continuous power (no battery changes needed)
The Blink app walks you through setup step by step, and most users have it up and running in under 15 minutes.
Is it waterproof? The Blink Video Doorbell is weather resistant — it has a seal that protects against water and is designed for outdoor use.
It's built to handle rain and typical outdoor conditions, so you're covered for standard weather exposure.
Will it work right out of the box without additional accessories? Here's the important catch for this specific listing — the product title notes that the Sync Module is NOT included, and this version does require one to enable local video storage and certain features.

Long Battery Life and Easy Installation
We’ve had this Blink video doorbell, integrated with our existing Blink camera system for several years, and it has been a reliable addition to our home security set up. Installation was straightforward, even on an uneven stone exterior, and adding a wedge mount helped improve the viewing angle toward our front walkway and driveway. The biggest advantage is how well it works with the rest of the Blink ecosystem. Everything lives in one app, notifications are quick, and the sync module allows for local storage without forcing a monthly subscription. Battery life is also been impressive. Depending on activity levels and settings, we’ve gotten many months between battery changes, which is a huge improvement over constantly charging some competing models. Video quality is good during the day and perfectly adequate at night, though it won’t match the image quality of some premium wired doorbells that cost significantly more. Audio is also adequate . If you’re already using Blink cameras or want an affordable entry in a smart home security, this is an easy recommendation.

Best Door Bell Camera
This is one of the cheapest door cameras and I can also say one of the best! I love that I can use this door camera WITHOUT a monthly subscription. I also love that I have the option to hard wire it in or just put in batteries. The batteries last 2.5 - 3 months. It was also very easy to setup on the app, just connect the app to your wifi and scan the QR code on the camera or box. Literally took less than 5 mins. The camera quality is also amazing & it has a night mode. I will definitely recommend this door bell camera.

Reliable home monitoring with Blink
We upgraded our Blink doorbell in October to the version with the oval chime button after using the older version with the round chime button for some time. With the older doorbell, we could never get the chime to work properly with our Blink Mini cameras, which made monitoring less seamless. The upgrade solved this issue immediately and also provides a better, full view of anyone approaching our doorway, which is a noticeable improvement. Blink continues to be a cost effective solution for home monitoring. I would not classify it as a complete security system because the video clips are not continuous, but they give a clear reference of what happened, especially when used alongside our other cameras around the property. The clips are automatically stored in the cloud with our annual subscription, which makes it easy to check activity remotely.. The user interface is intuitive, making it easy to access clips, review activity, and share videos if needed. Blink remains very convenient for monitoring activity, tracking deliveries, and keeping an eye on different parts of the property without relying solely on our wired system. Pros: • Easy installation and setup • Oval chime button works with Blink Minis reliably • Full view of visitors approaching the door • Cloud storage is convenient and accessible • Intuitive app interface for reviewing and sharing clips • Cost effective for supplemental home monitoring Cons: • Video clips are not contiguous, so not a standalone security solution • Limited advanced security features compared to full alarm systems Overall, we find the Blink Doorbell with oval chime button to be an excellent supplement for home monitoring, especially as we already have other security measures in place. It's reliable, easy to use, and gives good reference footage, making it practical for everyday monitoring, remote observation, and incident documentation.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall great product! Been looking at several options for awhile on doorbell cameras, and this one fit exactly what I was looking for. Installation was pretty easy and straight forward, just make sure if you wire it in you get the wires on properly so it doesn’t cause issues with the indoor bell box. Works pretty well, further images are washed out a bit when you are looking further away from the porch, so supplementing with additional perimeter cameras around the house would be ideal. Image quality for at the doorbell is very clear, and audio is good as well on both ends.
