It’s a basic tablet which was what I needed for mother who isn’t the most tech savvy. I don’t remember the description stating that this is the edition that includes an Amazon ad banner at the top. It’s a bit annoying. But I guess you get what you pay for. Overall my mom loves it for scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest.

Love it! Got it on sale for my mom, easy to use and allows you to also have a 3 month kindle unlimited subscription cheaper while you try it out. Yes they’re are ads on the Lock Screen but no big deal at all, doesn’t cause any trouble!

This device has video ads on the Lock Screen. Amazon support is asking I pay $20 to remove the ads and claimed I had a chose to pay less for the product because I chose the ad-supported version. NOT TRUE - I was not given an option. Nowhere does it say this device has ads. Target does not have the option to pay more for an ad-free device as Amazon claims. Save your sanity and money and just don’t buy this product. The video ads are annoying and slow down the device. Amazon or Target should PUBLICIZE that this device has ads and it costs $20 to remove them. I have never been more dissatisfied with a target purchase. I blame Amazon for false (and illegal) advertising though.

Depending on the retailer you purchased the device from, they may or may not have went over the ads or no ads options at the point of sale. Most customers are not bothered by the ads but we understand it can be frustrating if this is your first time using one of our devices. Like you mentioned above, you can unsubscribe by making a one-time payment to cover the difference between the device price with and without lockscreen ads. Great little tablets but iPads are much better, if you can afford one. You need to not drop these when you fall asleep, and remember to delete games, stories and saved projects or it will fill up and run slower and slower.
