Arctic Fox Ruby Red Semi Permanent Hair Color

I was so excited to try the naturals line, and this color seemed perfect. However, first, even on bleached hair the color didn't come out as dark as the box or website pictures indicated. I realize it will be different for everyone but this was off by several shades. Second, there were a few obvious areas of the hair that the color didn't take and still looked bleached. Third, the color faded after just one wash. I wash my hair maybe once a week (and use color safe products, plus I air dry my hair) to prevent fading and the discoloration was very obvious. After 3 washes one side of my head is almost gray. I have used the vivids line for years and love it so much; how long they last and the way they fade. I read a few reviews about Ruby Red before purchasing and saw this could be an issue, but decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately, those reviews are true. I gave more than one star because I still love the texture of the color and ease of use. I will definitely continue using the vivid colors, but the naturals is not for me.

I will preface this by saying that I have 16 years of experience with this type of dye, and have been using Arctic Fox products for over 10 years. This is their first product I have run into issues with. It didn’t take evenly on bleached hair, which is something I’ve never struggled with. It then washed out of my ends that had been bleached once several months ago, but clung deeply to my roots which were freshly bleach-bathed. Within three washes, my ends faded to a gray purple and my roots were a lighter reddish color than fresh application. I love this brand and I like to switch up to more natural sometimes, so I was really disappointed with this dye.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I actually ended up having to dye my hair twice. The first dye I bought here and it washed out immediately. I did apply this to bleached hair. I don't know if mixing it with a developer the second time, or maybe my hair just doesn't hold color well, but I'm finding it's fading really fast. The color is very pretty and I wish I had better luck getting it to stay.
