Espresso Brown does NOT cover grays roots— disappointed. Looking to grow out my gray hair and wanted to use semi permanent in the mean time. I’ll keep looking.

This worked decently on darker hair. It wasn’t a huge difference but definitely a difference. It is nice because it doesn’t have all the chemicals! I wish it darkened a bit more but overall it worked! It definitely has a tea tree…or eucalyptus scent!

Overtone is definitely on my list of favorite things! I get so many compliments on my hair. I'm an Overtone early adopter and I tell EVERYONE to try it. The pigment is so concentrated and lasts longer than other products that I've tried-both professional and over the counter. I even love how it changes as it washes out over time. i love this! i use it on dry hair and let it sit for around 45 minutes before washing out. it is super vibrant at first but slowly fades to a really pretty cotton candy pink. i don't have to reapply for about 3 weeks and i love how healthy my hair looks and feels the whole time. 10/10

First dark hair dye I've been able to use in years!
I'm 35 now, and have been dying my hair since 13-14 years old. I've exclusively dyed my hair a natural black since 16, but at around 24 years old, I started having bad reactions to dye- itchy scalp, itchy ears that got so bad they would weep fluid, and itchy red bumps popping up all over my body, even legs. I still trucked through and dyed for years and each time the reaction came on quicker and was worse so I stopped for a couple years, and tried some semi perms but they wouldn't stick to my hair. I had been wanting to try overtone for a while, finally did. I bought velvet black first but when I got it it looked pure purple in tub and was afraid, so reordered getting espresso brown and omg I love it. It gave me the most beautiful deep brown/almost black on the first try. I used half the tub for my hair, which is almost to my elbows. I left it on for 1 hour under a grocery bag, no heat, rinsed with warm (not hot) water, and used my regular conditioner after. It's kept it's color now for a week so far. I was worried the peppermint would irritate my skin but it hasn't and NO ALLERGIC REACTION! I'm so happy I can keep my hair dark now, I still have half a tub left for another application and I've ordered the maintenance conditioner. If you're allergic to dark hair dye, you should def try this!

This is my hair (check photo below) the bottom is like over processed almost black from permanent hair dye I didn't want to use permanent dye and I love highlights but they just fry my hair. I bought espresso brown to match the over processed lower part of my hair. This is after one application. I love it. I am going to do it again so that I can get better coverage. But this will definitely be my go to while I continue to grow my hair out. My hair is so soft, and none of that terrible box dye smell. I wish I had known about this years ago! Looking forward to trying their other fun colors!

This is my first time going pink. I've wanted to try the cotton candy pink for a while and went for it this summer. I didn't know what to expect in terms of how well my original color (with some blonde highlights) would take, but I was very impressed. I receive at least one compliment every time I'm out. It is such a great color. The product was straightforward to use, and I felt comfortable applying it all over my hair without hesitation. Afterwards, my hair was soft and smelled great.

Good but not great
I have gray hair and I know temporary dyes and gray hair aren't awesome together but this was actually great because I wanted to keep my gray coloring but darken my brown hair. That said the first week was so rich in color, my gray hairs did pick up the blues and purples which gave a cool effect. Once the dye really started to wash out I noticed my hair was tougher, would tangle often and felt like straw. Then I saw that it had tinted my hair a greenish hue. This was a good experience however I won't be using this product any more.

Overtone is literal garbage. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Do yourself a favor and just get your hair professionally done. It took me years to get my hair back to the right color after using overtone. Look at my before picture and the color it turned my hair… I ended up having to cut almost all of my hair off to get rid of it.

Because I have with overtone I am able to change the color of my hair for a short time without damaging it. I use it when other coloring begins to fade - or to give a pink or rose gold hue when am just bored with myself... it happens. Also use the blue if my hair begins to look brassy - plus it feel like it is actually good for my hair.... thanks.
