Q: Does this rice cooker have a removable inner lid for washing? The only part I see that can be removed on the lid is the steam valve, but this doesn't seem right since the entire inner lid is exposed to food.

submitted by kf - 7 years ago
  • A: The inner lid is not removable. We recommend using a gentle cleaning solution (soap, water and vinegar) to clean it off between uses.

submitted byAroma Housewares - 6 years ago

  • A: No, the inner lid isn’t removable. I wipe it down after each use and make sure I get the moisture out from under the inner seal. I’ve had mine for well over a year and this has worked fine for removing all the excess moisture.

submitted byRayRay - 7 years ago
  • A: I have had a similar model for almost 20 years. It is easy to clean the inside of the lid with a dishrag and remove any residue from the seal. Definitely don't close it with water in the inner seal.

submitted byKathryn - 1 year ago
  • A: I have had a similar model for almost 20 years, and RayRay and the manufacturer are correct. Just wipe it with a soapy dishrag or some vinegar and make sure the inner seal doesn't stay wet.

Q: can you fry onions, cook meat, boil water and make rice with it?

submitted by hamna - 2 years ago
  • A: Hello, Thank you for contacting Aroma Housewares. The unit does not get to a high enough temperature to fry in. You can steam cook meat or use the slow cook function to make soups and stews. You can also go to our online website and there are recipes provided for other meals that can be prepared in our unit. Should you like to speak to one of you customer service team members they are available M-F from 8:30am-4:30pm PST and can be reached at 1-800-276-6286 ext. 1. They would be more than happy to assist with any other questions or concerns you may have with the unit. Regards, Anthony Macalintal Customer Support Specialist Aroma Housewares Co. www.aromaco.com

  • A: I have a similar model that is excellent at slowly caramelizing onions on low heat. I can also get some brown on meat before stewing and saute a mirepoix for sauces. But it won't deep fry or stir fry.

Q: There is no option for high or low setting on the slow cooker. Do you use the high or low time in a recipe for the slow cooked?

submitted by JohnR76 - 4 years ago
  • A: I am disappointed--my older model has both high and low slow cook. Would it be effective to cook a dish on high slow cook and just let it go on the "keep warm" setting if you are not back from work?

submitted byKathryn - 1 year ago
  • A: Hello, Thank you for contacting Aroma Housewares. With this unit the slow cook is preset on a high temperature there would be no low setting. If you do have a recipe you would revert to the high temperature cooking times. Should you have further questions or concerns please feel free to contact our customer service team. They are in the office M-F from 8:30am - 4:30pm PST and can be reached at 1-800-276-6286 ext. 1. Thank you, Anthony Macalintal Customer Support Specialist Aroma Housewares Co. www.aromaco.com

Q: I have had mine for two months and we use about 2-3 times a week. It still has a very strong new appliance smell, like burnt rubber or plastic. Did this happen to anyone else?

submitted by Xuli - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes, ours also had that chemical stink - we returned it because it didn't go away after trying to use it several times. We've had several Aroma rice cookers in different sizes before this one, and none of them ever had any smell at all.

submitted byHeather - 4 years ago
  • A: Hello, Thank you for contacting Aroma Housewares. Should you still have an odor with your unit. One trouble shoot to try to clean the inner pot as well as lid. You can add two cups of water along with 1 cup of a white or distilled vinegar. Set the unit to steam for 20-25 minutes. Once done wipe down lid with a cloth or paper towel. This will help clean off the lid as well as the silicon gasket. Should you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at customerservice@aromaco.com or call at 1-800-276-6286 ext. 1 M-F 8:30AM-4:30PM PST. You can ask to speak to me directly or any one of our knowledgeable representatives would be more than happy to assist as well. Q: Does it over cook and brown the rice on the bottom of the pot?

submitted by Pipsqueek - 7 years ago
  • A: Cooks perfect as long as you follow directions on the amount of water.

submitted byShay - 7 years ago
  • A: This Aroma rice cooker comes with Sensor Logic technology that is designed to cook rice without overcooking as long as the suggested amount of water is added to the rice.

Q: Does it ooze out any liquid out of the cooker while cooking?

submitted by PilarMastra - 7 years ago
  • A: Hi PilarMastra, It is normal to have steam coming out while cooking. If there is too much water or if the rice is not rinsed, this can cause the steam to have excess starch.

submitted byAroma Housewares - 7 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: No liquid oozes. There is a clear plastic cup on the back that catches in water from the steam.

submitted byShopper - 7 years ago

Q: Is this 20 cups of cooked rice or 20 cups of raw rice?

submitted by anonymous - 7 years ago

Q: Is the lid removable?

submitted by Vivi - 1 month ago
  • A: Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us. With this model the lid is not removable. We recommend to wipe down with a damp paper towel or dish cloth to clean after use. The only part that is removable for the lid is the steam vent. Should you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to call out customer service team. They are available M-F from 8:30am - 4:30pm PST and can be reached at our toll free number of 1-800-276-6286. Regards, Anthony Macalintal Customer Support Specialist Aroma Housewares Co.

Q: Hi. I usually use ratio of 1:3.5 for rice and water. 1 cup rice and 3.5 cups water. So If I use 5 cups uncooked rice, I will be using 17.5 cups water. Will the pot hold thwater and come upto the brim

submitted by potlover - 3 months ago
  • A: Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us. Unlike cooking on a stove top you would not need to double the amount of water. I.E. white rice would only require 1/2 a cup more water than the rice you are cooking. Also there are water lines one the side of the cooking pot where you would fill once rice is added to the inner pot. As well in the manual it will give you other grain to water ratios to use for our units. Should you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to call into our customer service team. They are available M-F from 8:30am-4:30pm PST and can be reached at 1-800-276-6286 ext. 2198. Regards, Anthony Macalintal Customer Support Specialist Aroma Housewares Co.

This cooks rice but it doesn't stop cooking it at the correct time. If I don't check on it, the rice would burn. This same issue happened with my last rice cooker from the same brand (Aroma).

This is NOT 20 cups! Even the lines on the inside only goes to 10 cups. It’s tiny! My former insignia multi cooker was bigger and seemed much more durable than this. I’m sad I didn’t see that old one again to rebuy it for my new place. I’m not sure how long this is going to hold up. Pros: it’s tiny and lighter.

I have had this rice cooker for two years now. I absolutely love it and am surprised by the unhappy reviews. Yes, it streams but I feel like that is a given as it is rice cooker. I rinse my rice to get rid of starch and avoid a starchy mess boiling over. I have always had a great experience with this cooker.

Worst Rice Cooker Ever!

This is the worst rice cooker from Aroma we’ve ever bought. Our countertop is always messy with vapor coming out of the rice cooker. The top of the rice cooker is always white with the steam that solidified. What’s more is we bought this at full price at Target! Hate hate hate this one! I’m ready to just throw it in the garbage.

We had the same size Aroma brand rice cooker until the latch broke. It worked like a champ every time regardless of the type of rice used. We’ve now had this one for several months and have NEVER had a pot of brown rice turn out well. We have reviewed the manual multiple times and looked online for tips or tricks - no luck. We do not recommend this rice cooker if you plan to cook something other than white rice.
