Q: Was the formula changed? The tube I received was chunky, blue, and separated. It wouldn’t mix. I returned and was sent a new tube- this tube was also the same. I won’t be purchasing again. A waste of money for what used to be an amazing product.

Q: When opened for the first time, is it normal for there to be liquid separated from the cream? The one I received had about a teaspoon of liquid coming out of the tube before the actual cream.

I got this cream to help with my perioral dermatitis, and it worked! I was prescribed antibiotics and a topical steroid and I did not want to go that route. I found this cream and it took about two weeks to see the improvement but it’s been over a month now and my face is healed no more mess!

It’s perfect for a super dry day to reset your skin’s natural barrier. I love that this is unscented! Downside is that it’s really thick so you need a lot to cover your whole face, and the container is quite small. It would be best utilized as a spot cream for dry patches.

The cream was very vague on what it's use was, so I tried using it as an after shower lotion on my legs. I feel the issues I had with it, would be a factor on whatever body part it was used on. The cream was way too clumpy, be it dry or wet skin, you'd have to waste more product to get it to blend, as rubbing it in did nothing to break it down. After the time consuming act of rubbing it into the skin, you'd be left with a white cast that wouldn't fade for hours at a time. The reason I still give it 2 stars over one is that it did indeed do as advertised, I didn't need to reapply due to itchy dry spots, you will stay moisturized after use! It's just the amount you need to apply for this result that's daunting!

I bought this after hearing so many good things about this cream and was super excited to try it out. Imagine my surprise when I opened the tube and what I’m guess is the thermal water component was completeled separated from the cream. I tried vigorously shaking it as well as squishing the tube around in an attempt mix the components back together however nothing worked. I was left with a soupy, messy concoction. Thoroughly disgusted- if your formula lacks stability than you need to explore how to rectify the situation.
It separates into part liquid/part cream.

They're known for their effective skincare. This Cicalfate+ Cream is made to protect your skin's moisture barrier, so if you have oily skin, I'd test it on a small area first. When I first started using this, the cream came out thick, almost like a balm. Then, after a week, it started to separate into a liquid. You can see in the picture that it's separated in the dish. I've tried shaking the tube, but it still separates. I'm not sure if this is normal? I open it over my sink so it doesn't make a mess & just use the cream part. The cream itself is very moisturizing & it works on sensitive skin. It's on the thick side, so I only use it at night. It's soothing on my skin & it helps with any dry areas. I definitely recommend @aveneusa products, but I'm not blown away with this particular product. I think this would be good for dry skin mostly. Overall, I'd give it 3 stars because I don't like that it separates. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This formula is effective in clearing up my eczema like skin condition that occurs when weather is dry. The scent is light, and not overbearing. This is a fast acting cream, and the cream is easily absorbed into my skin. I definitely recommend this protective cream, I was surprised and happy to see something that targets these kind of skin conditions.

The formula has changed. This new version is just horrible. This has been the ONLY cream i can use on my skin when irritated for years now. I suffer with many allergies. This cream was wonderful as it was a thick soothing paste that you could apply yo problem areas like a mask, i would apply it to areas that were irritated or where I was red or had acne, and would sleep overnight with it like a mask on those areas. When i woke up it would still be there as I would not have rubbed it in and i applied it very thick, washing it off, the redness was gone, and acne was calmed and healing. Now however the water in this cream separates and it’s coming put the tube. The actual cream itself is now much thinner and watery, so it can’t be applied like a mask or a thick paste if you don’t want to rub it in, it just runs off your face, it’s horribly greasy and not soothing or calming at all, as of course before it would stay in place all night. I don’t understand why they would change an iconic cream. I originally thought the cream was expired. Such a strange texture now for something that’s supposed to be a protective cream. Can’t image this is good for chapped skin now, or watery and runny. What a terrible shame. I returned two thinking they were expired, now on my third, so i came online to see if the forumla had changed, now I see lots of people online saying the same and how they’ve had to discontinue use. End of an era for me, can’t possibly think what else i would use. Why would anyone want a runny liquid and separated cream when soothing skin though!?!

That’s what I’ve been experiencing lately with the Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream from Avène. I’ve been trying this multi-purpose cream courtesy of @influenster and @aveneusa and am blown away by how well it has cleared up my dry spots. It’s formulated with Avène’s signature Thermal Spring Water, C+ Restore™ (a postbiotic ingredient derived from that water), Zinc Oxide (to protect and support skin healing), and Glycerin for hydration. It can separate a bit, but doesn’t seem to much when stores with the cap up. And it’s likely going to be too heavy for full-face use during the summer. But for winter dry skin, it’s fantastic! And one of the recommended uses I’ve seen lately suggests using it as a dry skin mask, which I will definitely be trying.

Unfortunately, it caused an allergic reaction. I’m now on day 4 of recovery. I had done a patch test on the inside of my elbow and under my jawline, and everything seemed fine. But once I applied it to my face—oh boy. My eyes started itching and swelling. After a few days of allergy meds, I’m doing better, but it really shook me. I’m now hesitant to try anything from Avene again.
