A: Yes! I use Vanicream every night with retinol. If you want to layer: put on Vanicream, follow with your retinol, and then add another light layer of Vanicream. No dryness! (a secret from my Dr. Derm)

However, the only way to be sure a product is safe to use together is to apply a small amount on the skin and see if a reaction develops. This is usually done on the underside of the arm above the elbow. If no problem is evident, a larger application area can be tried until the person is confident that no problem exists.

A: The ingredients have not changed. However, because we do not use fragrances or masking fragrances in our products there can sometimes be a slight scent difference batch to batch.

Just finished my accutane journey, so my face has been super dry and easily irritated. This has no added fragrance, does not irritate, and has not caused any acne. Maybe it works for others, but the last two different vanicream moisturizers I’ve tried have both broke me out. My acne would start to calm, and as soon as I used this product I had new breakouts forming only a day later after switching products/even trying to slowly integrate them. Disappointed because I really love the feel of the product on my skin in comparison with the feel of other products.

My dermatologist recommended a different product from this brand years ago, so i trusted that this product would do right by me. But unfortunately it made me break out really bad. At first i thought i was purging but after 2 months of using it , it’s definitely not a match for my skin type. This is not to paint a bad picture of the brand! Because besides that the product is really moisturizing for the most part, but for us sensitive/acne prone girlies it’s a no go.

I keep coming back to this moisturizer after branching out to find new ones. Although there are probably better ones for the winter, this one keeps my acne under control. Just use a toner under for some extra moisture! A lot of people have had bad experiences with it for some reason, but I will continue using it!

My skin is usually dry, and I don't have issues with acne. However, after using this moisturizer for a week, I developed 4-5 large pimples. When I stopped using it, the acne cleared up within a week. I decided to try it again, but the acne returned, so I stopped using it completely. I liked this moisturizer because it's chemical-free, but unfortunately, it didn't work for my skin.

Irritated my compromised moisture barrier. My face got more dry with a really bad sand paper feel that made me tremble to touch my face when I splashed water. Was recommended by derm so I stupidly stuck it out for a few weeks before giving up. Looking more into it I think people need to be aware that this is not for sensitive skin. There are too many synthetic ceramide ingredients which are classified as actives! If you notice more dryness it’s irritating. If you notice much more oil at the end of the day and breakouts it’s because it’s dehydrating you further. I’m convinced dermatologist don’t understand skincare ingredients and recommend these things blindly because they are told to.

Feels so good on the skin! Genuinely moisturizes after application, but isn’t that thick consistency that makes you feel greasy. So lightweight and has helped with keeping my skin hydrated but not causing more inflammation to my acne. I was cerave loyalist until I branched out to vanicream. I really enjoy most of their products and there is no fragrance!!!

After reading the reviews and trying the product myself, I do see how it burns a little upon application for some but for me it’s because I had open acne wounds, which makes sense that they would be extra sensitive initially - but if I don’t have open wounds, there’s no sensation, so overall it’s a good moisturizer!

Why on earth is this awful product targeted for sensitive skin?!! This burns upon application, sucks any amount of moisture out of your skin (causing wrinkles you didn’t even know you had!), causes redness, irritation, rash, you name it! I despise this product and refuse to call it a moisturizer!! Should be banned!

Wanted to like this product, and at first I really did. No pore cloggers, decent price, figured it could be a more affordable option to my usual innisfree green tea moisturizer. Been using for a couple of months now and noticed a very mild burning sensation when I put it on, also the faint smell of antiseptic. Looked at the ingredients and it contains alcohol, no wonder my skin doesn’t feel as hydrated. It’s affordable and didn’t cause break outs, but because of the alcohol it’s not moisturizing, it is drying. Wanted to love but unfortunately it’s a no from me, will not be re-purchasing.
