This is the best mineral sunscreen. It stays where I put so it doesn’t hurt my eyes later.
The only sunscreen that doesn't give me hives!

I have been looking for a sunscreen for years. I try one, I get visible, extremely itchy hives that last maybe a week, then I avoid all sunscreen completely for months. I've been in this cycle for over 10 years and have also avoided the sun as a result. I never burn luckily, but as I enter my 30s, I was determined to find one for daily use. This is the only sunscreen my skin tolerates!!! It doesn't have a weird scent to it and goes on nicely, but my bar was pretty low--just no hives. You have to really rub at the sunscreen to use enough, but again I don't mind. It feels nice on the skin. The only thing I haven't tried is using it under makeup. 100% recommend and will be trying other Badger products now!

I live and work on a sailboat, and spend half of the year in the Caribbean where I am in the water everyday. I have been searching for a mineral sunscreen that is TRULY reef/environmentally friendly, good for my skin, and rubs in clear. I have finally found it! To top it all off, this sunscreen is made using ethically-sourced ingredients by a company with good values. The tin size is perfect for travel. I will definitely be ordering more of this in the future.

I bought this due to the brand & packaging, and I'm keeping it because of the product inside! The consistency is good and it goes on clear. I like what it's made of and the smell is nice. After purchasing online I also found out that Sprouts carries it! Happy to have buying options.
Sunburn is a thing of the past

The first place I always get sunburned is my forehead, so I was looking for a great natural mineral sunscreen that would keep the sunburn at bay on my face. I have tried several, but this one really works! It even gave sun protection when I was afraid I had sweated most of it off. With most mineral sunscreens, I have gotten that dreaded white cast, but this one soaks right in with a nice glow. I use setting powder on top so that it stays put, but I don't think I even need it. A keeper for sure!

This is a thick but easy to spread cream. I feel confident it is protecting my skin. I use it on my face, neck, ears, and decolletage. It's white in the tin but once it is rubbed and warmed by my hands, it goes onto my face without the white tint. I appreciate that it isn't full of chemicals. I wash it off my hands after I have applied it because it would be a greasy mess if I didn't.
Stays put.

Happy with this sunscreen. The ingredients are kind to my sensitive skin, and I appreciate the tin packaging. Perfectly sized to slip into a bag or pocket. It is a little bit greasy, and does leave a slight white cast.

I purchased this from Grove on my search for a mineral sunscreen with high SPF.
My husband battles skin cancer lesions so I need something effective.
We applied generously before getting out the car, walked around the visitor center before heading to the trailhead.
Yes, it was Red Rocks and yes we were walking SSW. When we got back to the car after 90 minutes, we both had that pinkish hue and lines around our watches.
This is really scary to me that we weren't out that long, it was dry, we didn't really work up a sweat, and it failed.
I can't afford to keep trying different sunscreens not because of cost...because my husband's life depends on it.

Thank you for communicating with us! We're sorry to hear about your experience! We take all safety concerns seriously and would like to get more information to be sure we best understand your experience with Badger sunscreen. If you could let us know the lot number and expiration date of the sunscreen you used I can report this to our Quality Control team. Please feel free to connect with us at custserv@badgerbalm.com.
We are a family-owned company whose entire mission is to create products that protect and soothe. We use everything we make on our own friends, family and loved ones. Because of this, we employ safety and testing standards that are beyond anything asked of us as manufacturers. Here is some further information on what goes into assessing the safety and efficacy of our sunscreen.
We conduct rigorous testing on our sunscreens to meet U.S. and international standards. All Badger sunscreens are tested in independent professional laboratories that follow the FDA's prescribed sunscreen testing protocols. Every production batch of our sunscreen is also tested to ensure that it contains the required amount of active ingredient, zinc oxide. We sell many thousands of sunscreens every year and hear regularly from people how well it works for them.
It is important to note that no sunscreen is fail-proof, however. We’ve found that with mineral sunscreens there are some common misunderstandings that can contribute to a lowered level of protection, such as the timing of first application, reapplication, and the intensity of solar radiation. We recommend other sun protection measures including limiting time in the sun, especially from 10am - 2pm, and wearing long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses.
Underapplication is often the biggest culprit behind burns with any sunscreen. Using half the required amount of sunscreen only provides the square root of the protection - so a half application of an SPF 30 sunscreen only provides an effective SPF of 5.5. The FDA tests all sunscreens using 2 milligrams of sunscreen per square centimeter of skin. For a 155lb adult body (in a swimsuit) that means about 1oz for full and complete coverage.
Again, we are sorry you didn’t have a better experience. Let us know how we can be of further help.

Love this stuff. The consistency is a little thicker but I don't mind since I'm serious about my sun protection!
Best part is that it comes in a tin and not a plastic bottle. I try to minimize waste and single-use plastic. Would love to see Badger implement a takeback/reuse program for all of their tins to make it a truly circular product!
Works great but remains tacky on the skin

Tried this for the first time as we wanted to have a clean sunscreen. It's easy to put on and works great! Love that it's reef friendly, and it comes in a tin container vs plastic. The only downside is that it remained tacky on our skin until we showered so sitting on the beach should not be on the agenda as sand will stick to it! We will continue to buy this and plan to use it when we're on the boat or in the water, just not on a beach day.
I use on my face mixed with moisturizer

I use this on my face, neck and chest. I have a light honey tan complexion and the white cast from the zinc isn't too noticeable after rubbing it in and letting it set for a few minutes. I mix a little face moisturizer in my palm with about half a dime of the spf and blend to a consistency that spread smoothly on my face. Little goes a long way. I like the tin can because we don't need plastic for everything.
