Please note that the iron is still “ON” or in the standby mode until you actually turn it off and unplug the iron. The handle of the iron will remain warm since the iron is still drawing current and the electronics are still working (energized). Only the sole plate is cold.

A: I purchased this iron based on the answer to this question but after finding that it was accidentally left on all day in my home, I’ve discovered on Black & Decker’s website that this model DOES NOT have auto off.
