Bodum Bistro Electric Coffee Grinder Black

No longer turns on. Had it for about a year. Definitely was not expecting it to break out of the blue.

It lasted less than a year. It does not turn on anymore

POOR DESIGN: deep narrow cup doesn't allow beans to move as they're ground. POOR COMPONENTS: high rpm low torque motor is so fast beans just sit above the blade. POOR QUALITY: It broke after about a week of intermittent use due to the poor connections between the lid and unit itself.

Stopped working after a few uses.

I have used this for maybe 6 months every morning. It was never great but it worked ok. Then one morning recently it just stopped grinding mid-grind. I notice a coffee bean wedged under the blade and thought maybe it caused the motor to overheat. But the thing should be designed to chop up coffee beans? I let it sit to cool down but it still won't work. Spend a few more dollars for something that will last. IMO.

This is terrible quality. The cap doesn’t fit snugly to the grinder so it gets coffee grounds all over the place

This item is crap. It’s cheap and never worked consistently. It just completely broke. Not worth it

This completely stopped working after a couple months. Spend more money and get something nicer. This is trash.

Stopped working after 2 weeks. We followed the instructions, being sure to stay under the fill line & everything; it still broke.

It's incredibly weak for a grinder. It can only take a few coffee beans at a time, not even a small handful.

I'm no expert, but i do know if you want "properly" ground coffee, you ought to be using a burr grinder. That said, I purchased this before knowing the difference, and it HAD worked just fine for my needs, at least for a while... Fast forward to now and you'll know that the "soft touch" plastic finish on the base has degraded and become sitcky - which is disgusting to experience. It seems manufacturers know this will happen and it is yet another form of planned obsolescence. I've had this happen to many items, including nearly all of my OXO products. At least with those it can be fixed by washing in soap and water. Electronic stuff, not so much. These days, I avoid buying anything with a soft touch finish. Been burned far too many times to care if a piano black finish gets smudged or feels a little less secure in my hand. At least I know it won't degrade after a while into a tacky and gross feeling mess. As a strong believer in buying tools built to last a lifetime, or longer, garbage like this causes me to look to other brands. It's also very unhelpful to our environment as most would not accept this as a hand me down and it will more than likely find its way into the landfill. Dissapointing that greed so constantly takes a front seat to environmental concerns.

Great little grinder!

I've had this grinder for about 2 months. It worked inefficiently (see other reviews re:poor design), only ground a small amount, and spilled over. Now it has stopped working completely. Can't return, no longer have receipt. In the trash it goes...

Worthless. Flimsy and works like 20% of the time

It worked great for about 4-5 uses and then the motor blew. I did not fill over the max line either.

As other have stated, the tiny red tab that activates the power switch has to be exactly centered on the switch for the grinder to turn on. I've had to fiddle with it nearly every time I want to grind beans. The second, and most important reason I returned this is that it takes 30+ seconds to grind the beans to brew size. On other grinders there are two ridges in the lid that slow the beans down as they spin and direct them into the blades. You can typically grind beans down in 5-10 seconds. This grinder does not have these ridges so the beans can spin freely and many do not fall into the blades unless you pulse it.

Does it grind coffee? Yes. Does it make a huge mess of grinds everywhere and get coffee grounds stuck in its closing mechanism? Also yes. I have a feeling this thing will die within weeks. Do not recommend.

This grinder grinds coffee, not well, but it does the job. The problem is the design, where grounds get stuck between the plastic bowl and the topper, and spill out each time you use it -it's so poorly designed I thought mine was defective, but no, that's the way it is. The bowl can handle only a very small amount of beans at a time, and is non-removable, so you can't effectively clean it or the attached blades. I'll be returning mine after only a couple uses. Definitely spend a bit more money to get a burr style coffee grinder or at least a bladed one with a removable grinding bowl - this Bodum is poorly designed and a poor value.
