Q: Can you use it to grind whole dry spices like pepper & coriander seeds?! We don't drink coffee. We'd use it exclusively as a spice grinder. Hence, it only matters to us if it'd work for this purpose.

submitted by Titian Red - 2 years ago
  • A: Titian, to protect the integrity of this product, you should only use this as a coffee bean grinder. Please consider buying the Cuisinart Mini Prep 2.6-Cup Food Processor to meet your objectives.

submitted byMarcus - 2 years ago
  • A: Yes, it works fine for spices but be aware that the metal cup is not removable for washing.

Q: battery operated or electric

submitted by Jepp - 2 years ago
  • A: Jepp, This item is corded, not battery operated. Hope this helps!

Q: Can the metal cup and blade be removed for washing?

submitted by Emily - 3 months ago
  • A: This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Plug cord into outlet. 2. Remove lid from base of grinder. 3. Fill stainless steel bowl with desired quantity of beans (see measurement suggestions on reverse.) For best results, do not fill beans above the top of the stainless steel bowl. 4. Place the lid onto grinder base. 5. Press and hold On/Off button to begin grinding. Please note: A safety feature of this grinder requires that the grinder will not operate unless the lid is in place. 6. Grind until beans are ground to desired consistency (see grinding suggestions on reverse.) To stop grinding, release pressure from On/Off button. 7. Remove plug from outlet. 8. Measure ground coffee into coffeemaker filter using scoop (not included), tablespoon or lid measure

Q: Does this grinder have multiple settings for medium, course fine, Etc; Or is it depending on me to know how long to hold the button down?

submitted by WSG369 - 4 months ago
  • A: This does have multiple settings for coarse, med and fine grounds.

submitted byMarcus - 3 months ago

Q: Can you take out the metal cup for washing?

submitted by Alyse - 6 months ago
  • A: 1. Be sure that grinder plug has been removed from outlet. 2. Wipe inside of stainless steel bowl and lid with damp paper towel. Dry completely. If desired, lid may be washed in warm water or in the top rack of a dishwasher. Never immerse the grinder base unit in water or other liquid. 3. Store excess cord by pressing a section at a time into the cord storage area in the base of the unit. 4. Maintenance: Any other servicing should be preformed by an authorized service representative.

I bought your coffee grinder to grind cloves and small seeds like flax into a powder. It even did an excellent job on tiny chia seeds.

It cannot handle enough beans for 12 cups of coffee as the description says. It's so small that even the beans needed for 8 cups of strong coffee is too much. It also gets stuck in the "on" position so I have to just plug it in and unplug it to turn it on and off. I'm replacing it a week after I got it.

The Cuisinart coffee grinder is very easy to load the beans, close the chamber, and start the grinding. It is quiet compared to other brands. Clean is easy too.

Rather junky. Doesn't work near as well as my old Hamiltin Beach one. Same amount needs ground 10 seconds longer. Won't accept correct model to register.

This tiny but mighty coffee grinder runs circles around my more expensive Kitchenaid one. It’s easier to use, no cups to twist in and out and clean up is a breeze. Sometimes you don’t need all the bells and whistles just a well functioning simple device and this one is it!

Relatively quiet grinder. Works great and gets the beans to a good consistency. Only negative is that the cord storage is difficult to use.

This thing works great! Bought for spices and it ground cardamom super fast and fine. My only complaint is the lid doesn’t lock on so when storing it can fall off and that’s really more of a slight annoyance than a complaint.

It’s small and does a good job . The blades are not sharp so it won’t cut you during cleaning . The only thing is it can’t detach to wash it so all I do is wet a paper towel and clean it out .

DCG-20BN Coffee grinder

4 out of 5 stars

The DCG-20BN Coffee grinder is a good buy for the price. Its small size grinds just enough coffee for me since I usually only grind for a few cups. The grinds are fine and fairly consistent for a blade grinder. I only wish I can remove the grinding cup for cleaning. Brushing doesn't work for me. I want to clean the entire unit each use with water to remove any residue. I wind up partially submerging it under water which they say not to do. Lets hope the motor lasts.
