Q: Has anyone used this grinder past the manufacturer's 18 month warranty period?

submitted by Daya - 2 years ago
  • A: Yes. Will require cleaning. The hopper rotates off. Good to brush clean and force air (blow vigorously) through the passages to remove fine particles which seem to clog the switch mechanism.

submitted byCheapGuy - 1 year ago
  • A: Yes- after 18 months the grinder broke. It has been cleaned and will not grind beans any longer

    submitted byMNJoel13 - 9 months ago
  • A: Yes, I've had it and use it a lot every day, past the 18 month mark and still works great. Have to clean it so it doesn't get clogged. Still works great,

Q: How many volt is this coffee grinder? Will it work in eroupe ?

submitted by Danaz - 9 years ago
  • A: I don't know how many volts but I don't believe it will work in Europe without an adapter.

submitted byjmn - 9 years ago
  • A: It is 120 volts. I don't think it will work in Europe.

submitted byRomeo Oscar - 9 years ago
  • A: with a voltage converter you could use it in Europe

submitted byAF - 1 year ago
  • A: It is 120v. There are voltage converters for appliances but I personally would buy the appliance in the country you're moving to.

  • A: The grind is fairly inconsistent and you will get a lot of fines.

submitted byThe Answer Man - 2 years ago
  • A: All of the settings on this grinder make "Fine" grounds. The coarse setting makes medium find grounds. If you want coarse grinds -- look elsewhere. I am very disappointed in this machine.

Q: Does anyone know if this grinder grind coffee beans beyond the espresso size to the dust powder extra fine size needed to prepare like Turkish coffee or so?

submitted by Ptl - 7 years ago
  • A: Yes, there is an extra fine setting for Turkish coffee.

submitted byRadiofan - 5 years ago
  • A: It does several different textures.

    submitted byGinaB2323 - 6 years ago

Q: Can you grind spices in this?

submitted by JA - 7 years ago
  • A: Yes, I suppose you could. It would be a little over powered for just regular kitchen use and much more work to clean out between spices. I use a small inexpensive grinder for spices, they usually are around $10.

submitted byclf - 7 years ago
  • A: You could, but it wouldn't be easy to clean a specific spice out of it. I wouldn't use it for that purpose.

submitted byTCook - 7 years ago

Q: Just bought grinder. It grinds coffee really slow. Is this normal?

submitted by Sandcrab3 - 7 years ago
  • A: The setting in front is for the approximate number of cups of brewed coffee in ground coffee needed. The top setting is for how fine a grind you want. The finer the grind the slower it will grind because it brings the blades closer together. A more uniform grind speed can be achieved by keeping the bean hopper full so it always puts downward pressure on the beans to enter the grinding chamber. All that being said it should grind the beans at the same rate as any other comparable grinder. I've had mine for over a year and find it to be the best grinder for under $100. Hope that helps!

    submitted byPhil C - 7 years ago
  • A: You don't really want a grinder that is too fast. It builds up heat due to the speed and that can effect your beans.

submitted byclf - 7 years ago

Q: I just bought this grinder. There is a mark on the dial that selects Fine/Medium/Course. Is it supposed to be screwed all the way in so mark is about 9 o'clock or is it supposed to face you.

submitted by Sandcrab3 - 7 years ago
  • A: True the white line is your guide to the type of grind you want. Align with the dots on your grinder. Good luck.

submitted byNailima - 7 years ago
  • A: The white line indicates the desired grind. it varies from fine to coarse. just twist to the the dotted marks depending on how you want it ground. most coffee makers you would use the medium setting and fine form more espresso applications.

I bought this several weeks ago to replace a similar grinder from Cuisinart. The previous model worked well, but stopped working after only several years - I thought a bit prematurely. The new grinder seems to have less control of grind size and also seems very slow. Overall, the new grinder works but is not as good as the version it replaces.

Was disappointed that the grinder settings particularly for the amount of grinding one wants for say two cups of coffee is inaccurate and much less than would be appropriate. I think for the amount of space it takes up there are probably better quality grinders out there. Can't recommend despite my high hopes.

I bought this coffee grinder to replace the same model which I owned for about 7 years without any issues. The new one I received has issues. The clear plastic bin where the ground coffee is deposited doesn't stay in place, it slides out due to the machines own vibrations when grinding, which causes the grinder to stop. The new machine also grinds far less coffee than the one I replaced. If I set to 10 cups, I have to run it twice to get as much ground coffee as I used to get from the old machine. When grinding, the pitch of the motor raises frequently indicated the beans are not filling the grinder area of the machine. I believe this is the reason I have to grind for twice as long as I used to. I don't know if I got a lemon or if it's a quality control issue, but I am not satisfied with this product.

    Disappointed

One would think the Cuisinart name (and higher price tag) would be a pedigree of quality. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case with this grinder. I have tried different amounts of whole beans in the hopper, yet the slide dial seems to have no bearing on how long it grinds the beans. Sometimes it runs for 4-5 seconds before stopping, other times 15-20. Usually I have to push the button 2-3 times to get the desired amount of grounds. The grounds also get tightly compacted against the side of the grind chamber and make a big mess when you open it to brush them out. My last grinder was a cheap off-brand and it worked more efficiently than this.

I recently purchased this unit as a replacement for the same unit that I had for ten years. I was surprised that seemingly nothing had been done to improve the design, given that two issues were consistently reported by users. 1. The buildup of superfine particulate near the lid of the canister and the grinder opening; and 2. the insane amount of static electricity that is generated during the grinding process that causes coffee grounds to explode out of the canister when you open it. It really makes using this product a poor experience because one must mop up coffee grounds after each use - never mind the waste. Other than that, it grinds coffee beans fairly well!

So far, so good! I've only had my coffee bean grinder... or, "Burr Mill" long enough to run 2 full bags through, but wow! Works perfectly. The first bag I ground a little too fine, so take some advice and, the first time you use it, grind juuuust enough for one pot of coffee. See if you like the setting. Obviously, if you don't, repeat one pot at a time till you get it like you like it. Keep in mind that the freshness of the beans, and the amount of time the beans were roasted can, and will likely, play a part in the grind setting. This mill makes adjusting those results easy and painless.
