Description

Braun Series 9 is the world's most efficient electric shaver, providing you with both a close and gentle shave, without compromise. This wet and dry foil shaver uses five synchronized shaving elements to capture more hair in one stroke for a flawless shave every time. Braun's patented SyncroSonic Technology reads and adapts to your beard, providing extra power where you need it most. In addition, this technology uses 10,000 sonic vibrations per minute to let the face and beard shaver glide over the skin, paired with the built-in Protective SkinGuard to smooth the skin for a more comfortable shave. A durable, titanium-coated trimmer head locks into five different positions so you can easily shave those hard-to-reach areas like under the jawline and nose, while a precision beard trimmer slides out of the back of the electric razor for easy and more accurate sideburn shaping. You can now shave cordlessly for longer (60 minutes) with 20% more battery than the previous Series 9. Braun Series 9 9370cc comes with a Clean & Charge station that hygienically cleans, lubricates, dries and charges your electric shaver at the touch of a button. Each shaving kit includes a Smart Plug charger for automatic 100 to 240 voltage adjustment. All Series 9 electric shavers for men are made in Germany with premium craftsmanship. Q: What type of lubricant Is recommended for the head and side trimmer?

submitted by Bocephus - 4 years ago
  • A: We'd recommend using any light machine oil.

submitted byTheBraunTeam - 4 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Hi. Well....you can actually use any light oil (i.e. baby oil, olive oil, or clipper/trimmer oil). Just a drop on each of the blades, while it's running, and wipe off the excess and you're good to go:)

Q: How much cleaner is included in the purchase of this shaver?

submitted by PS - 3 years ago
  • A: Our Series 9 9370cc comes with one cartridge of cleaning fluid.

Q: hi what is the material of the travel case

submitted by danny - 3 years ago
  • A: Fabric.

Q: How necessary is the cleaning station? The $30 discount is attractive on the Series 9 without the cleaning station.

submitted by Timmy - 4 years ago
  • A: The cleaning station is designed to clean and store your shaver after each use. Without the station, we'd just recommend rinsing your shaver under warm water after each use and oiling the head with a light machine oil every 1-2 weeks.

Q: Is this shaver good for black men to use?

Not for tough beards apparently

I tried to give the Series 9 some time and get used to a new way of shaving but after three months or so I can't give it a satisfactory review. It just leaves too many whiskers and I have to go back over it with a straight blade. Very frustrating because I wanted to end the repeated purchase of expensive, disposable blades and be free to shave anywhere. This shaver cost a ton of money too.
1 reply from Customer Care team - 9 months ago
David, we understand and share your disappointment and frustration. We're very sorry to hear that you're not getting the premium shave that you deserve. If you're not doing so already, taut the skin, hold the shaver at a right angle, and shave against the grain being sure to apply even pressure. This should help cut even the toughest of beards, so we'd like to collect some details and assist you with this. Please call us at 800-272-8611.

Noticeably lower quality (don't buy)

1 out of 5 stars
Sean S - 9 months ago

I bought the Braun Series 9 sport shaver a week ago and I can tell you, without question, I will be returning it. I've been consistently using Braun shavers, since at least 2008, because I felt the premium prices were worth the premium quality of the product and superior shave. However, the Series 9 (and any similar design) have changed my mind. The difference in design between my Series 5 and the Series 9 (shown in the pictures) is a laundry list of cutting corners. The internal difference in the blades didn't affect the quality of the shave, based on my own experimentation. However, the series 9 clearly has more possible points of failure. The plastic attachment pieces on the housing, the plethora of moving parts in the assembly itself, and no reasonable ability to clean it without immersing it in water, all make for a less resilient product. Further, the cost for a replacement assembly on series 9, as compared to the blade and cover for the series 5, is vastly higher. I'm sure this is good for Braun, but definitely not for the customer. Further, the trimmer on the back is noticeably less capable (shown in the photos below). Both the size and the cutting capability for the series 9 have been diminished. The series 9 cuts so poorly, it was pulling hairs on my face! The worst part is that the trimmer doesn't seem to be broken. It's just a shoddy product. I may give your razors another try in the future, but you've convinced me to check out other razors for the moment. This razor is pretty, for sure, but pretty is not the reason I buy a razor. Please, focus on quality again.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Sean. Please be assured that safety and quality remain at the heart of everything we do, and this is far from what we'd expect. We take pride in the quality of our products, which are thoroughly tested to meet both of our high standards. When you have a moment, please give us a call at (800) 272-8611. Power button fell off

Shaver Head Is Too Large for Accurate Shaving

1 out of 5 stars
Joez - 1 year ago

I've been using Braun/Eltron shavers since the 1980's, but in the last several years Braun went to much larger shaving heads which makes it difficult to shave/shave around if you have a beard, goatee, mustache, etc. Plus, the trimmer cutter isn't as good as they used to be either. Hey Braun, here's an idea for you, introduce a classic version like the old 8595 or 7680...you'd sell a boat loa of them.
1 reply from Customer Care team - 11 months ago
Joez, thank you so much for being a loyal user of Braun. We're sorry that you're not a fan of our newer shaver heads. With these newer shavers, we have added a new feature to many of them called a Precision Long Hair Trimmer that you have been using. You should be able to use it to get those tricky areas, so we expect it to be very effective, especially if you go against the grain. We'd love to share your experience with our team, and also pass along your suggestion as well. We can be reached at 800-272-8611.

Good razor but power button defect

I bought this razor a few years ago and it works great but near two years in the power button broke off. I had to ship it off and got it replaced but now a year later, the same thing has happened again. I don't drop the razor or do anything but use it daily for shaving. Seems like there must be a defect with how the power button attaches. I had a Norelco before this one that lasted over 10 years with no issues.

I have used Braun shavers for decades but I really love the 9. I actually enjoy shaving with it. I was surprised to see such poor reviews. Definitely not my experience at all. The foil broke kind of early on so I did have to replace it but that didn’t bother me. I also love the clean and charge station. That works very well.

Looked forward to buying a Braun series 9 razor. Must be the Cadillac of electric razors. Boy was I wrong. From day one this razor did not shave as well as my old Norelco. Doesn't give a close shave and beard clippings fall out on your shirt as you shave.
1 reply from Customer Care team - 1 year ago
We're very sorry that you're not getting the quality shaving experience that we expect. While it may take several weeks for your skin to adjust to a new shaver, which can impact the quality of your shave, please keep in mind that the thickness of your beard as well as the frequency of cleaning the shaver head are a couple factors that could contribute to this happening. We recommend cleaning the foil/cutter after each shave. Doing this may help remove more hairs, especially when shaving against the grain, and help prevent hairs from falling out. For us to assist you further, please call us at 800-272-8611.

Great shave, but overall a crappy product

I bought a Series 8 about 4 years ago. Best shave I ever got from an electric razor. After a year, though, the charging cord light came on and razor would not operate. Unable to find the receipt to send for repairs, I ended up buying a Series 9. Still great shave, but 9 months later, same issue with cord light. Two more occurrences of this issue within the warranty period. Foolishly, I decided to try once more, and bought another series 9 last August. Today, the cord warning light came on. Ironically, all 3 razors were never plugged in; only used the clean and charge station. Sorry Braun, despite the great shave, I need a more reliable product

I am on my fourth Braun shaver in about 30 years. The first and cheapest, was by far the best shave and longest lasting. ( I was a Norelco man) Each subsequent razor does not do well on my LIGHT beard. Even with a new cutter, it does not cut well. I think I have a series 6. I am tempted on the Series 9 but I am not sold.
1 reply from Customer Care team - 1 year ago
While we're honored that you've been using Braun for over 30 years, we're sorry that your recent shaver isn't the same quality as you have come to know and love it. We did find that lubricating the blades using a light machine oil or the clean and charge station will help make all your sessions go smoothly, especially if you hold the shaver at a right angle. We'd like to hear from you about this and help as best we can, along with sharing more information about our Series 9. We can be reached by dialing 800-272-8611.

I bought a series 7 to replace my triple head razor. I wasn't happy with the series 7 at all so I traded up for the 9. I don't shave every day so when I do, there is some stubble. The 7 just didn't cut it, literally. I would have to go over and over the multiple times. This is the first electric razor that I have used that can handle my tough beard with a few days growth with minimal effort. It appears well built. I like the fact that this comes with the trimmer built in and not a separate attachment like the 7.

Directions are pathetic

There is nothing complicated about an electric shaver but the directions leave much to be desired. There is a switch above the power button. I can push it up or down and can tell no difference in the shaver one way or another. What does it do? The pictures that come with it mean nothing. The edger pops up but how do you get it to work? It just pops up with no movement. What turns it on? Why make something simple to be difficult? More info on the powercase would be be helpful. Does it have to be plugged in or does it have a battery in it that holds a long charge? Simple details would be helpful to understand the product better.
1 reply from The Braun Team team - 2 years ago
We want you to use all of the features our Series 9 9370cc has to offer, so we're sorry that you weren't a fan of the user manual. The switch above the on/off switch is called the multi-head lock switch. On page 10 of your manual, it goes more into depth as to what it can do, which is locking the head to shave those hard-to-reach areas. The PowerCase can be used in two ways. Firstly, the shaver can be charged in the PowerCase with a smart plug attached. The shaver will be charged until 100% full. Alternatively, the shaver can be charged in the PowerCase without the attached smart plug. Feedback is important to us, and we'd like to hear from you about this. Please call us at 800-272-8611.

Great shaving, disappointing durability!!

4 out of 5 stars
AGThunder - 2 years ago
originally posted on braun.com
I bought my first Braun Series 9 in 2018. It had the best shave I had experienced to that time and was very happy. But within 2 years, the attachments for the head on the base unit broke down and started to cut into my face while shaving. I had replaced the head once during the time I owned that particular series and initially thought I just needed to replace the head again but then found that the actual unit was causing the problem. I replaced that unit with a Series9 93xxcc Model 5793 in June of 2020. The on/off switch broke within the year but was easily replaced. I had to replace the head in August of 2021 (earlier than the expected 18 month replacement). I then replaced the head again in August, 2022, again nearly 6 months short of the expected 18 months. Shortly thereafter, the unit became much noisier than usual. (These are not quiet machines!) The noise continued to increase and I began to have more difficulty getting the shave I was used to. Three months to the day after I purchased the new head I did some extra investigating and found that one of the four small springs in the head had come loose with the attachment on the head having broken off. I think that only a part of the head has been functioning as expected leading to prolonged shaving times and the extra noise. I have now had to order a new head only 3 months after replacement! This gets a bit pricey. The other slightly irritating issue I have is that the replacement cartridges for the C&C unit rarely last even 3 weeks . . . significantly less than advertised. In summary, a great shave but don't expect to get the same life out of your shaver as advertised. The durability of the products have not been what I expected from Braun. You will need to budget a little extra if you want the shave that the Braun Series 9 can deliver (or look for alternatives).
1 reply from The Braun Team team - 2 years ago
We're sorry to hear that this has been your experience, as our products go through strict quality checks to ensure that they reach you in the best possible condition so that you can rely on them. As well, our shavers have been thoroughly evaluated to be safe when used as directed. We'll be sure to share your comments with our team. We'd like to mention that while our foil and cutterblock should last up to 18 months when used and cleaned properly, the rate of wear is dependent on your shaving method and beard type. To get the most out of each foil, use light pressure while shaving and regularly clean and oil the foil. It also may be helpful to know that generally, the durability of our cleaning cartridges are approximately 3-4 weeks, but very much depending on bathroom conditions and the pollution of the cleaning station. We'd like to learn more and gather some more details for our teams, so please give us a call at (800) 272-8611when you have a moment.

Good shaver with several flaws

4 out of 5 stars
Jeffj - 2 years ago
originally posted on braun.com
I have used this shaver only twice. Both times dry, once after 3 days of not shaving, once after on day. Shaver is noisy, but the shave is smooth. After 3 days takes a long time. You have to passed on your face several times. If you shave couple of times a week this is not the right shaver. Don't cut the fine hairs on the neck. Curvature of the shaving head dose not allow to reach under the nose. But you can use the trimmer. Trimmer width is too narrow and too close to shaver head. This shaver is not for traveling. Cleaning part to bulky and cleaning solution can not be put in carrying case (TSA), so you need to carry a suite case and pay extra, unless you are travelling first class. No plastic cover for shaving head, but carrying case quite good and sturdy. A plastic cap can be produced in China for about 50 cents. Consumables. Require cleaning solution and lubricant oil. All extra expenses. This a good shaver, but not suitable if you travel and if you don't mind the bulky cleaning and consumable. They don't want to sell just a shaver, but also a steady income stream by selling consumable.
