Not so much Grind Control
I love all my Breville products but this one seems to be falling short. I have calibrated over and over and I'm barely getting any coffee to grind. Typically about 8 to 10 grams per 8oz cup. It leaves my coffee very bitter. I've resorted to grinding separately. I wish there was more control over the grind time. A little misleading with the name.

Too much maintenance and inconsistent results
Received as a wedding gift. I loved the concept of being able to brew a single cup vs a cafe of coffee. Sadly this product’s quality did not live up to my expectations. Liquid brewed varied every day despite not changing the brew size - one day it’d brew full 10oz mug, next morning it’d fill halfway in the same sized mug. Cleaning maintenance way was too much work. Despite cleaning the metal disk where the ground coffee comes out into the filter, hard buildup accumulated and almost impossible to remove/clean. Finally quality of coffee was okay, but can never drink the last 2-3 sips because of sediment at bottom of mug.

Not worth the money…
It initially worked well (first year or so). Despite regular maintenance it now leaks or is unable to complete the brewing process. Disappointing given the cost - would’ve expected it to have a longer life.

The worst
I saved up and bought what I thought was a well made coffee maker that would make my life easier in the morning and I could enjoy a yummy cup of coffee…… not so much. I literally hate it. The machine worked for the first two months and then for the past several years every day or every other day the grinder clogs up and won’t grind the beans. If you walk away and don’t catch it then you will pour your first cup of just slightly dirty water not coffee. If you catch it then you have to stop it, open up the basket turn the top grinder to unlock, and reach in with a brush or butter knife or vacuum it out then start the process over again. I literally have a vacuum in my kitchen just to clean out the coffee maker every few days. I am so angry that I spent my hard earned money on this! I actually left a review for the second time in my life so I might save someone else from wasting their time and money

Not true to size. Lots of cleaning
They need to update this design so bad. In theory it is great but in practicality not so much. So much to clean to keep it happy, also if you have 18" cabinets, the knob will not fit under them! They need to lower the height of the knob to fit under cabinet spaces. Breaks if you don't constantly clean it.

Fresh ground coffee every morning
I am new to Breville brand. I really love my The Grind Control Coffee maker. I read and followed the instructions manual to make sure I operate the machine correctly. I like the metal grinder for the coffee beans. Many other grinders I shopped for did not have metal. I really like the metal coffee carafe. There is no heating element below the pot that could burn the coffee or catch fire. The metal carafe keeps the coffee hot all day long. Great engineering. The grinding of the coffee beans can be adjusted and the brew can be adjusted. We make the coffee to our preference. I use the metal basket for the grounds instead of paper which reduces waste and additional expenses. The coffee processes quickly so it is ready first thing in the morning. I rise 2 hours before my spouse and the coffee is still hot for his first cup.

Terribly Disappointed
I’ve purchased two (and now my third) Breville Grind Control coffee machines, and unfortunately the experience has been frustrating and disappointing. This latest one takes nearly 20 minutes to complete a full cycle, and water leaks all over my counter during brewing. On top of that, the coffee doesn’t taste the same anymore it’s flat and inconsistent compared to when I first bought it. I have been loyal to Breville and own several of your products, but the repeated issues with this model paired with the cost make it very hard to justify. I expected reliability and quality, and instead I’m dealing with constant maintenance and disappointing performance. For a premium brand, this feels unacceptable. I sincerely hope Breville reviews the design and durability of this machine, because it has the potential to be great but as it stands, I cannot recommend it.

great coffee.. but
it makes great coffee, I haven't experienced the jamming other people are talking about and use it daily. I tend to prefer light roast most of the time so grind pretty fine. my issue. is the carafe.. it's terrible. it's impossible to get all the coffee out of it, it's messy to poor from. how it made it through testing I have no idea.

Grinder stops working, calibration wrong
Buyer Beware! The grind control requires very frequent maintenance of the grind chute and disc to prevent blockage. The machine doesn't identify that there is trouble when the chute is clogged or the disc is so full of old dried grounds that it no longer rotates. After some months the grinder stopped grinding and even after resetting and recalibrating, it still only produced 8 grams despite it saying it was producing 25 grams. Given the significant maintenance, lack of notification of problem and ineffective calibration , I STRONGLY suggest NEVER buying the Breville Grind Control.

Great coffee
We have had the previous iteration (replaced under warranty) and the current version for years. I love the fresh ground coffee. It's a great coffee maker. The only flaw seems to be in the water capacity measurement. It skips from 5 to 10 cups - not a huge issue, as we usually make a full pot. I've tried leaving a vinegar mix in overnight but no luck. I've also tried a descaling compound - no luck. Speaking of the carafe - it keeps coffee hot for hours. Overall - great machine.

Great Gen 2 upgrade!
I had the first Gen. it was great for a number of years. The grinder function stopped working on it. We still used an external grinder and continued using it. Recently replaced with this gen 2 model. EVERYTHING about it is better, from the grinding decibel level being lower to the grind level being adjustable, full stainless carafe, better program pages, etc.

Unreliable
Terribly unreliable, even with regular cleaning. At least the few times it did work the coffee was good. Replaced it with the Precision Brewer model and never looked back

Intermittent but persistent "EMPTY COFFEE FILTER" error message in the middle of a grind/brew cycle
Struggling with getting rid of this error message. cleaned the chute, grinder/hopper, descaled multiple times and still getting this error message "EMPTY COFFEE FILTER" in the middle of a grind/brew cycle. This stops the machine and i have to force it to restart and sometimes going to 'pre-ground' setting. If i could only locate the 'microswitch' on this machine (which may be the cause), probably could purchase a replacement. ANY help rendered much appreciated.

Cup/carafe knob faulty after just one week
Cup/carafe knob faulty after just one week. It is set at 2 oz/11 cups at factory default but would only increase in number no matter which way you turned the knob. Once at the max number for cup or carafe volume, the only way you could get back down to a lower volume you had to perform a factory reset (that means we can never make a 4 cup carafe for example, only 11 or 12 cup). My husband has made multiple calls last week to Breville and has gotten the run around (“I only deal with a different model and someone will call you back”). Even after many calls we have had no answers or proper follow up. He loves the built in grinder, and rarely make carafes of coffee since I do not partake, but he will now have to do a factory reset twice a week when he switches from a cup at home and a travel mug when he works in the office 2 days a week. This means using any feature using the clock for example would be a pain since he is factory resetting so often. When we looked online this was one of the highest rated coffeemaker with a built in grinder but upon further research this volume knob problem has been an issue I’ve seen on individual reviews that are SEVERAL YEARS OLD. Breville just doesn’t seem to care. I will never buy another of their products after spending $350 for this annoying experience.

Too much maintenance
I bought this machine about 2 years ago. It is a very high maintenance machine where cleaning and descaling is technically cumbersome and time consuming. It requires one to work hard for a good cup of coffee. The electronic of my machine is now malfunctioning. Even to have Breville service it is a complicated process where you don’t know how much the charge will be once they diagnose the problem. I do not want to invest any more time, energy and money into this product. I am throwing this machine away.

Flawless Performance, Day In and Day Out – 6 Months In
I’ve had the Breville Grind Control for 6 months now, and I can confidently say it’s delivered flawless coffee every single time. We brew an average of 8 cups a day, every day, and it hasn’t missed a beat. Maintenance has been effortless: I rinse it out, change the filters as needed, and wipe down the grinder extractor once a week. That’s it—and the machine continues to perform like the day I unboxed it. What’s more, it sits proudly beside our Breville Oracle Jet espresso machine, and together they make quite the pair—both visually and functionally. Not a single guest has had a complaint; in fact, everyone compliments our coffee bar setup and brewing skills (which I partially credit to the machine!). If you’re considering a grind-and-brew coffee maker, I would buy this one again and again without hesitation. It’s reliable, sleek, and makes a cup of coffee that rivals your favorite café.
