Q: Is there a timer or set ahead function?
submitted by txdaffodil - 2 years ago
A: No it does not.

Q: WHAT KIND OF PAPER FILTERS WILL I NEED
submitted by TBauer - 2 years ago
A: You can use Kalita wave filters for the single serve function, and Bunn 8-12 cup basket-style fitlers for the full carafe function. OXO has FAQs on their site (linked below). Any filter with tall walls is ok, but Bunn is widely distributed. https://faq.oxo.com/en_us/what-type-of-coffee-filters-can-i-use-8718800-8-cup-coffeemaker-H1iWpmdVs

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So glad that we decided to order this coffee maker. It is easy to use and easy to clean. Looks very stylish sitting on the kitchen counter. We mostly use half-caf ground coffee, and this coffee maker produces a rich tasting brew. It is the best coffee maker we have ever had. Highly recommend.

Perfect. No bells and whistles, no programming, no clock to reset. Just a sleek coffee maker that makes very good coffee and turns off after 15 minutes. The stainless carafe does a good job of keeping coffee hot. Easy to use. Very pleased.
Do not buy this!!!

I appreciate this coffee maker for its look and simplicity. But II honestly cannot stand this product and it's because the lid is clogged somehow - I clean it, rinse it out, use a bamboo skewer to push through the top hole. Alas, coffee floods out everywhere and it's happened to me so many times! I've tried leaving the lid off and that just makes the coffee cold but leaving the lid on leaks freshly- brewed hot coffee all over my counter 6 out of 10 times. I don't know if I just got a defective one or what but do not buy this coffee maker.
Carafe is unreliable

After a year, the carafe lid began jamming up with coffee grounds. Sometimes this caused the coffee to overflow while brewing. Even after cleaning, the lid still did not reliably pour coffee. The machine is now basically unusable unless I want to buy a new carafe, which would have the same structural problem. I am replacing the machine, not with an OXO.

Great Coffee Maker for Specialty Coffee Lover!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall: Overall, this is a really great coffee maker and worth the investment! Why I Bought: I love specialty coffee and have been making pour overs every morning for a while. But as life gets busier (first kid on the way), I felt that for the sake of time I wanted to get a batch brewing machine. I was excited to get an SCA certified brewer that has a bloom phase and brews the coffee between 195-200°. Based on my experience with this coffee maker for far, I believe it produces an excellent cup of drip coffee. Functionality: Most of the time, I use the 2-4 cup basket settings and brew a few cups at a time. I’ve been really happy so far with the brew settings, especially since they’re so simple. I considered getting the OXO 12-cup machine that has larger carafe, temperature control, and a brew timer, but ultimately I felt the OXO 8-cup method all of my needs. Personally, I’m glad I saved the extra money and went with the more straightforward machine, as it’s working really well as a daily driver. Capacity: The 8 cup carafe is plenty for my daily needs, but we had a big group over one time and a 12 cup carafe would have been nice, but I’m not sure the trade-off for a larger and bulkier carafe would be worth it. If we start needing to brew a higher volume of coffee, we would first consider buying an extra carafe and simply brew a second batch. Shortcomings: There are a few. First, when pouring the carafe, a little coffee does drip down the side—seemingly unavoidable. Second, the water container does not detach, which makes it a bit less convenient to fill up. Third, when brewing on the setting for an open vessel (not into the carafe), the coffee often spurts out and gets some drops of coffee on the counter and the machine. Overall: the machine is great, I enjoy using it, I enjoy the coffee it makes, and I’m really glad I got it! Well done, OXO :-)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great coffee maker! Easy to use, nice variability between 1-2 cups and more. Love the carafe that keeps the coffee warm. Love the ability to brew directly into a mug. Finally, I appreciate that it automatically turns off after a short period.

We decided we wanted a coffee maker with a carafe. I did a lot of research and read many reviews. We decided on the OXO 8-cup Coffee Maker. We love how it looks… and we are so happy with it! It’s incredible how much better the coffee tastes than our old Cuisinart. My husband likes to add extra coffee grounds which could overflow in the normal coffee filters it recommends. After a bunch of looking around, I found that Bunn filters are about half inch taller and fit perfect! Thanks OXO!!

I really like the options of a single cup or a pot. The coffee tastes great. A little disappointed that the filters are not standard size and found in my coop.

Great insulated carafe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The carafe is the best one I've ever used. It's well balanced, it's easy to handle, it pours perfectly without dripping, and it holds the temperature reasonably well. I like the small footprint of the unit, since my countertop space is scarce. Most importantly, the coffee is good. On the down side, the temperature of the coffee depends on how much coffee I'm brewing. A full carafe of coffee comes out noticeably hotter than a partial carafe, and a single cup comes out even less hot.
Cup measurements wrong

The cup measurements on the side of the maker are very off. If I pour in 3 cups of water from a measuring cup, the side of the machine says that it has over 5 cups of water in it. This then makes it confusing as to which setting to use for brewing and how many scoops of coffee to actually put in the machine - the 2-4 cup setting or the 5-8 cup setting, 3 scoops for 3 cups or 5 scoops for 5 cups, etc. Still trying to figure it out. But overall it’s a good cup of coffee.
