Q: Glass filter that holds the charcoal filter it's not in box with coffee maker

submitted by Carlie - 4 months ago
  • A: Although Keurig no longer includes water filter kits with your initial purchase, using filtered water is important for reducing scale build-up, prolonging the machine's life, and improving flavor.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: Purchasing the $15 water filter kit will help minimize scale build-up, and prolong pump life. I have absolutely no idea why Keurig decided not to include these with the initial purchase.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: Keurig used to include in-reservoir filter kits, recommending that the charcoal filter be replaced every two months. Now you have to buy the filter kit separately, which retails for about $15.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: The K-Duo coffee maker is compatible with the Keurig Short Handle Water Filter Starter Kit, however, it is sold separately. This is an optional accessory and not required in order to use the coffee maker. We hope this helps!

Q: Why didn’t this come with the charcoal filter attachment?

submitted by Paulb - 8 months ago
  • A: According to the website, FoodDrinkTalk Pro, Keurig's decision to no longer include water filtering kits with new coffee makers is based on, "Design Simplicity", "Cost Savings". and "Convenience".

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: An excellent question. The $15 filter kit is required for using charcoal filters. Filtering water reduces the rate of scale build-up and helps to prevent premature pump failure.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. The K-Duo coffee maker is compatible with the Keurig Short Handle Water Filter Starter Kit; however, this is an optional accessory and is sold separately. We hope this helps!

Q: Is a filter required?

submitted by Lynda - 9 months ago
  • A: Filtered water is important for reducing scale build-up, prolonging the life of the coffee maker, and improving flavor. Until recently, Keurig included filter kits with each coffee maker purchase.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: Keurig did recommend changing the charcoal filter after two months or 40 gallons. They no longer include a filter holder with your initial purchase and no longer recommend filter change intervals.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. The K-Duo coffee maker is compatible with the Keurig Short Handle Water Filter Starter Kit; however, this is an optional accessory and is sold separately. We hope this helps!

Q: Is this the 2nd generation Keurig?

submitted by Nan - 10 months ago
  • A: Yes, this is the 2nd generation K-Duo coffee maker.

submitted byJohn - 9 months ago
  • A: The first generation K-Duo had a stainless steel thermal carafe that has been replaced with a 12-cup glass carafe. It also has a hotplate that automatically turns off after 2 hours.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: Yes, this is the second generation K-Duo coffee maker. Thank you for your question!

Q: Do I still need to buy coffee filters for pot side

submitted by E - 3 months ago
  • A: Yes. When brewing with the carafe, you will need to use a flat-bottom paper filter designed to fit 12-cup brewing baskets.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: The K-Duo Single Serve & Carafe coffee maker can fit a flat-bottom paper filter that is compatible with a 12-cup coffee maker.

Q: Is there a power button on/off since I don’t want it to be on “keep warm” for two hours if all the coffee has been used from carafe? Do we always have to unplug if from the outlet to turn it off before 2 hours is up? Tnx

submitted by MelySA - 3 months ago
  • A: The hotplate can be toggled on or off by holding the carafe button in for 3-5 seconds. When manually turned on, the button will be lit red and the hotplate will remain on for 2 hours.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: Once the brew is complete, the heating plate will automatically turn on and remain on for 2 hours - the CARAFE button will illuminate red. To turn off the heating plate, press and hold the CARAFE button until the light is no longer illuminated. We hope this helps!

Q: What type of water filter, if there is one, is used for this coffee maker?

submitted by MelySA - 3 months ago
  • A: Keurig recommends using their Short Handle Water Filter Starter Kit, which costs about $14. I used the holder that was included with my previous Keurig and bought a couple of new charcoal filters.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. The K-Duo coffee maker is compatible with the Short Handle Water Filter Starter Kit. We hope this helps!

Q: Can I remove a part where k-cups go into and buy Keurig reusable one where I can add my own type of coffee?

submitted by MelySA - 3 months ago
  • A: The K-Duo (Gen 2) has five water injection needles that pierce single-use pods. To prevent damage, only reusable pods that are specifically designed for this coffee maker should be used.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 months ago
  • A: Thanks for your question. The K-Duo coffee maker is compatible with the Keurig My K-Cup Universal Reusable Coffee Filter for the single serve option, which is designed to be used with your own ground coffee. Hope this helps!

Q: Has the coffee pot issue been fixed with this model? Where all the glass pots spill coffee all over the place due to poor design?

submitted by UJB6595 - 8 months ago
  • A: If you're describing how the carafe lid swings open when the carafe is tipped past 90-degrees, I don't believe this issue has been corrected as of yet.

So far this is great. Love the dual option for a cup or carafe. Looks great too. (Let’s hope it doesn’t break in 2 years like the Keurig Cafe Smart I had bought prior to this.)

Have had for about 6 months and progressively worked less and less (not sensing water, overflowing, making half pots, water all getting stuck in the top) until it finally fully died this week - doesn’t even get power any more

Worst New Coffee Maker I Have Ever Had

The brewed coffee was barely warm and had a terrible chemically taste to it. I rinsed the resevoir and pot and ran water through several times. Didn't matter. I got my old Braun coffee maker back out and made coffee and was like, wow! You dont realize how good soemthing you already have is. The concept of brewed coffee and k-cups all in one appliance is a great idea. But the execution done by Kuerig was terrible, bad taste, cold coffee, reservoir barely big enough for two medium pots of coffee, and just an overall cheap feel to the appliance. I returned it.

I have had a Keurig coffee pot ever since they first came out. I think the k-Duo is the best one yet because I love both hot and cold coffee just like tea. I especially like this particular coffee pot because I can brew one cup or a carafe when I have company. What more could I ask for.

Unit appears to be fine on day one. Fingers crossed. Delivery to front door was left completely open, Target tape was off, and it appears that this was an open box item. Not purchased as such. Missing the gold coffee filter and all of the paperwork. Disappointing to say the least. Recommend this item, just not Target delivery!

When my family bought one it randomly broke within the first week of buying it. It would not turn on at all, even though it was plugged in. The replacement we got didn’t even last a day. The first time we used it to make a cup of coffee it sputtered water into the coffee pot and shut down. Returned it the same day.
