Q: Just bought a Keurig K-70 coffee maker from a thrift store & did the pre brew sequence. Made first cup and now the menu says to "descale". We use distilled water. Do we really need to descale?
A:Â You should never drink distilled water as it will draw calcium and other minerals from your body. Distilled water is only for irons and steamers, not consumption.
submitted byDeborahChico - 6 months agoA:Â We recommend descaling your brewer every 3 to 6 months depending on your water quality. Scale is harmless, but if left unattended, it can hinder optimal brewer performance. Descaling your brewer regularly helps maintain the heating element, removable water reservoir and other parts of the brewer that come in contact with water. You can find descaling video instructions here:http://krg.bz/2wHyPzo. Also, you can use distilled water in your Keurig brewer but we don't recommend it because it can change the taste profile of your coffee by making it bitter.
