A: While the volume of the Tide Free and Clear HE detergent has been reduced from 92 fl. oz. to 84 fl. oz., the formula has been updated to maintain the same cleaning power per load. This means the detergent is more concentrated, so you’ll need less liquid per load to achieve the same level of cleaning as before. Essentially, the product is stronger and more efficient, allowing you to still get 64 loads from the smaller volume

A: Tide's answer about the number of loads for the 84 oz. container is completely misleading. See details. Line 5 of measuring cup for full load = 4 oz. That's 21 loads/ 84 oz. container.

A: With all of our liquid detergents, there was a change to the formula to make it more concentrated. This means that while there are fewer liquid oz in the package, you will still get the same number of cleaning loads.

A: I called my local store and asked them to verify whether the 154 oz version (DPCI: 003-08-0159) is in fact High Efficiency (HE). They verified that it is HE. The person I spoke with said the HE logo is on the bottle — admittedly, I haven't yet purchased so I'm verifying this second hand.

NO LONGER UNSCENTED!

This latest bottle we purchased now has a slight scent to it. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE UNSCENTED! Tide has ruined this product. Will never purchase again. “All” is cheaper and cleans just as well, and is ACTUALLY unscented! The executive at Tide who changed this product (ruined it) should be tossed into a volcano!

Free of irritants

Tide free and gentle laundry detergent is free of any dyes, any perfumes, or scents. This clear liquid detergent is very gentle and leaves our clothes feeling clean. Occasionally, I'll add a scent booster when using this detergent to give clothes a subtle, fresh linen scent.

My #1 Laundry Detergent

Tide is my go-to laundry detergent brand because I know it cleans very well. This free and gentle version is no exception. No matter what wash cycle or water temperature you use, your clothes will be super clean. Over time there is no build up of any residues, which is one less thing for me to worry about. I have very sensitive skin and some laundry detergent fragrances really irritate my skin so I always know free & gentle without a scent will be a safe option for me.

I have been using tide free and gentle/clear for years and years and years. I noticed over the last month my clothes smell bad and I have been itchy. I had a bottle still on my shelf of the old formula and realized they switched. The new formula doesn’t work as well and gave me a reaction. WHY DID THEY CHANGE A GOOD THING??

Finally a Detergent That Cleans Well Without Irritating Skin

I’ve tried a lot of laundry detergents over the years, and “free & gentle” versions can be hit or miss — sometimes they’re gentle but don’t clean well, or they clean well but still somehow irritate skin. This one actually hits the balance. The first thing I noticed is that it’s truly fragrance-free. Not the fake “unscented but still smells like perfume” situation — just clean clothes with no lingering scent. For anyone sensitive to smells or skin reactions, that alone is a huge win. Performance-wise, it handles normal laundry really well. Everyday clothes come out clean, and I haven’t needed to use extra product or boosters. It also works fine in cold water cycles, which I use most of the time. What I liked: • No dyes or perfumes — gentle on skin • Cleans effectively without needing a lot • Works in cold water Things to know: • If you love strongly scented laundry, you won’t get that here (which is the point) Overall, this is one of those practical purchases that just makes life easier. It does its job without causing problems, and that’s exactly what I want in a detergent.

"Free & Gentle" has scent in recent purchases

We have used Tide Free & Gentle for many years with no problem but recent purchases have a scent that is similar to regular detergent. Even with adding white vinegar to the rinse cycle and adding an extra rinse it is still very noticeable and unwelcome. What has Tide done to it?

This really is so GENTLE!!

I have a lot of clothing that is very delicate, made of materials like wool and silk. I always hesitate to wash these items with regular detergent because of the dyes and scents. This is the first detergent that I've felt comfortable using on my gentle clothes. I also live with a few people who have sensitivities and allergies to dyes and scents. This detergent has been a heaven sent.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great product for babies, those with sensitive skin, and those sensitive to fragrance and dyes. I love Tide, and this product was great, especially for my family members that have sensitive skin. Personally for my laundry, I love the clean soft feeling this gave, but I had to add my scent boosters back in. When they say no fragrance, they mean not even a soapy smell. This is a great Tide option, but I'll save this one specifically for my family that needs it and I'll stick to my very fragranced soaps. I received this product complimentary for testing purposes.
