We have had 3 of these. They are the best - when they work - all three of ours have failed so now I’m writing a review so you can know before you buy. As with anything, caveat emptor!

I use this two to three times daily to make matcha or chai lattes and I cannot express how much I love this

This is a fantastic milk Frother. We love it. But we have had three of these over the years and 2 of them failed in the same way after about 4 years. The magnetic frothing disc that fits inside for some reason stops spinning smoothly which starts as a slight grinding noise every now and again and then eventually that happens every time and then it just grinds and stops and doesn’t spin at all. Such a brilliant piece of engineering, just disappointing that it fails in the same way over time.

We bought this to replace our Nespresso frother. It works great, and we love that it is made of stainless steel. The only downside is that the minimum amount of milk required to froth is quite a lot. It really is made for larger quantities of milk like lattes, cappuccinos, and hot chocolate. It is hard not the best for making a small amount of froth to top a coffee. However it does work well to make foam for 2 coffees! Overall very happy with our purchase. Also love it has a cold foam option.

I loved this frother at first. I use it to heat and froth my milk for matcha lattes, and it saved me from having to heat my milk in the microwave or on the stovetop (not ideal) and froth by hand. It's easy to clean and made awesome foam at first--true fluffy foam with micro bubbles. With the cappuccino attachment, it was almost too foamy! But the latte attachment was perfect, just the right amount of steamed milk and foam. Fast forward to now, three months later, after using the frother about 3-5 times per week, and taking impeccable care of all parts and pieces, and I'm getting almost no foam, even with the cappuccino attachment. The milk still heats, but I notice it's running for a much shorter time, the motor sounds louder and sort of rough, and there's only the tiniest bit of weak, large-bubble foam when it's done. I can get better foam with a whisk by hand. :( I've tried all the fixes and hacks I've read online, to no avail. And I'm using whole milk. It's almost like the motor is just not running at full strength anymore. Super disappointed--we did a lot of reading up on foamers and I wanted one that was stainless steel instead of nonstick coated, and this fit the bill. But to only get three months of good use out of a machine this expensive is crazy.

I bought this after going through several "cheap" steamers over the years. This is different for sure. Very high capacity so when I have more than one drink to make it is FANTASTIC! It is a bit noisy but it does not bother me. The clean up of the stainless steel bowl is great! I like that is has several settings including a cold froth for iced drinks. It is a bit pricey but I have several other Breville products (coffee grinder, espresso machine) that have stood the test of time so it is worth it.

I wanted a machine that makes enough milk and hot enough to be enjoyable. The machine does exactly that and is easy to use too.

I’ve bought several for gifts. Easy to use and easy to clean. Makes great froth very fast.

Loud. I bought this years ago and wanted to re purchase since the old one ended up melting on the inside. It was old and well used so I was happy to re purchase. Unfortunately, the new one is so loud. I thought something was wrong with it so I returned and re bought, but this one is also loud. Not happy with my new purchase, the old version was way better! I hate when quality goes down over the years.

We have homes in Kentucky and Florida. Milk Cafe froths my latte's perfectly in Kentucky but it does not froth in Florida. We've decided it must be a "sea level" issue.

For the high price, machine is extremely loud and takes quite long to complete frothing.

I love my milk frother. From the first use to now, i have not once doubted my purchase. I have the Breville 870xl espresso machine and have taken pride in learning the proper frothing technique for cappuccino and lattes. This machine is very adept at coming very close to barista style frothing. Watching the milk cafe in action is mesmerizing and the temperature is bang on to the setting. I like my frothed milk at 150 degrees and sure enough the milk cafe gets it there. I bought this for myself for Christmas and this is one gift that won't be regifted.

I purchased this for a gift since I already own one. I've had my frother for about five years and it's still going strong. I use it multiple times a day and has held up beautifully. I only wish mine came with a cover like this one in order to keep the dust out. I'm sure my son will love it as much as I do.

Great machine but I have decided to get a Breville expresso machine instead. The Milk Cafe gets the milk hot and foamy as advertised but I need the expresso coffee to make that great latte I buy in store.

I bought this frother as a birthday gift for my husband who loves thick milk froth in his coffee. He loved it while it worked which was less than a year when it stopped heating the milk. The cold setting didn't thicken the milk enough so had to use a mini electric whisk to manually froth milk on our stove. After spending so much money on this, I couldn't bear to toss it out so it stayed in our cabinet. Shockingly, the heating feature on this machine started working again several months later. It worked for another 6 months, then it stopped heating again. Same thing. Several months later, it started working again but it heated with less consistency. This Breville frother was so unreliable that we were always surprised when the heat setting worked. Finally, earlier this year, this frother just stopped working. No blue light came so we googled what to do. After testing it in different outlets and checking that the female interior hole of the container was completely dry, we're certain it had finally died. This machine was sick from the beginning and it died a slow and painful (for us) death. I wish we had invested in another milk frother from the get go. We spent far too much time drinking cold barely frothed milk in hopes it would somehow come back to life. This frother is now going in the trash with no regrets.

Just after a year and a few hundred uses, the base that the pitcher sits in cracked, and it quit frothing. It was really great, while it lasted. Not the same as a steam wand, but still made a great latte. R&D should look for a better material for the base.

This is one of the best machines I have found works well and is of very good quality

Just received. Looks fantastic. More importantly it works great. Easy to clean. Onboard whipper storage so you don't lose the second one. My only wish is that Breville would use some stainless steel in the grinder. It now looks tacky and plasticky (literally) on my counter. Please Breville :)
