Born on a 175-mile bike ride, CLIF BAR energy bars are purposefully crafted with a mix of protein, fat, and carbohydrates to help sustain active bodies before and during long-lasting activity. They’re filling and give you lasting energy, but keep in mind they’re high in calories for such a small bar. The packaging has a good adventure vibe. The texture is dense but not brick like. The oats give it a chewy backbone and the chocolate chips are generous enough to feel like a treat without tipping into candy bar territory. It is sweet but not cloying. It is more like a healthy oatmeal cookie than a protein bar trying to be dessert. It is very helpful for my busy days or outside where I cannot get something super quick when I am hungry.

I was a little disappointed that the bars weren’t softer. They were a bit too sweet for my taste. It says they have unsweetened chocolate but there’s brown rice syrup, cane sugar syrup and tapioca syrup. The bars do contain 10 grams of protein and 250 calories per bar. Each bar is individually wrapped and would be good to use for the afternoon slump when you’re searching for a snack or late night to satisfy a sweet craving. Personally, I prefer a much softer bar.

I’ve found some protein bars to have odd aftertastes but the clif bar doesn’t! The chocolate chip is a yummy way to trick myself into thinking I’m having a dessert, too. I will buy these again.

I find them to be very filling and a great option to enjoy when I am feeling low energy and in need of a snack. I feel even better knowing these contain plant based protein. These are easy to throw in my bag to enjoy while on the go. I highly recommend!

It tastes like a Chick-fil-a cookie if you took all of the sugar out, dehydrated, rehydrated then formed it into a bar. It’s hard to understand how it can be high in sugar and carbs but has no flavor. I can appreciate the ingredients because I can read and understand each one, and it seems to be all natural. It does also give a bit of an energy boost. Honestly I wouldn’t purchase in the future, but if it was a bit more palatable I would definitely reconsider.
