The origina is way better
I guess I got this in a GWP, just found it and used it. i personaly like the original, no charcoal better. I am not understanding what the charcoal does except get all over my face cloth. I didn't like the black color on my face, what is the point of that? And also the sample I got smelled rancid like another reviewer. Just a hard NO for me.

Best makeup remover
This removes ALL makeup, including eyeliner and mascara. It is a little messy once you rinse with wet hands, but my skin has NEVER gotten this clean with any other product.

I seem to be allergic.
I got this to remove Nyx Epic Wear Eyeliner, and it did the job. Where I had to scrub it off prior, this took it right off. Unfortunately, I seem to be allergic! It has dramatically increased the lines around my eyelids, and they are puffy, dry, and rough to the touch. I hope they heal, because it looks awful.

Stick to the traditional one !
Take the day off is the best cleansing balm ever - and I've tried them, all but stuck to this over the years. So when I saw the charcoal one I thought I'd give it a go. It's awful ! The black goo gets in your hair and it's really hard to get off your face. It ruined my make - up remover cloths. I binned it in the end

disappointed
The product I received has a stale, rancid smell. I wouldn't use it on my skin or anyone else's. I'm not sure if this is how it is supposed to smell or if I've received an old, expired product. I'm usually happy with Clinique products, order them often, and highly recommend them, but not this one.

Bought by mistake!
I bought this for my holiday but on arriving opened it up to see it was black, So anyway I tried it didn't like it at all face was black hands were black cleansing cloth was black it went under my nails won't by again. So next day on holiday I had to go and by some of the clear balm. Should make container different from the other balm as I think a lot of buyers will pick it up by mistake.

Take The Day Offô Charcoal Cleansing Barm
Been a user of the original balm ( love it to) for years but decided to swap to this and OMG i love it! Absolutely perfect for my oily skin, its very strange to start with a black balm , yes i agree. Now i use grey washcloths to remove it as i think if you use whites it can stain, dont fund it doesn't makes a big mess as i read some reviews saying, Highly recommend this balm for oilier skin-types

Get the original
This works just as great as the original Take The Day Off. However, I thought the smell was terrible. I personally couldn't get past it. I would just buy the original.

Love it
I love this cleansing balm. It works so well at removing makeup. My face is clean and feels great. As far as the charcoal part that some are complaining about, I have had no issues with stains. I actually like tje fact that the black/grey is easy to spot in my sink and rinses away so easily.

Works well, but messy.
I tried this because I love the regular Take Off the Day balm. I have oily skin, and the regular actually seemed to help it, so I thought the charcoal version would be amazing. It does leave a film on the face, as did the original, but my toner took care of that. The charcoal version is so messy and will get all over anything it touches, or drips on when rinsing off. I decided to only use it in the shower because of this. All that being said, my skin is happy with it, but I'll probably switch back to the original version.

Wow!
I'm utterly amazed how good this Take the day off charcoal balm works!!! I can have full face makeup on and this balm gently removes it all!!! I have oily to dry skin (and sometimes sensitive) and I had no irritations whatsoever! I'll forever be a repeat customer for this product!

All Over Bad Product
I normally love Clinique products, but I HATE this one. The smell is AWFUL! It doesn't remove makeup, just smears it. And finally, leaves a film on face that my cleanser can't take off (nor does the cleanser get rid of the smell). So disappointed that I wasted any money on this product.

Deep Clean Without the Dryness
The charcoal balm melts makeup and deeply cleanses pores, leaving my skin fresh and smooth. Perfect for a thorough cleanse without stripping the skin!

Won't buy again
I've used Clinique for over 30 years. Always love the products. However I don't like this make up remover balm. Way too greasy for my already oily skin. Feels like crisco on my face. And it smells terrible, like old used cooking oil.

Better options
This product is very greasy and messy. It does clean, but there are so many other better cleansers that Clinique makes. I would not buy this again.

This product is great...if you like giant messes
I only gave this product 2 stars because it does technically remove makeup like it claims to. But everything else about it is absolutely awful. No matter how careful I am when using it, I always end up with black hair, black hands, black countertops, a black sink, a black towel. This product makes a HUGE mess and stains literally everything. It smells weird. And the charcoal doesn't actually do anything it claims to, so there's no point for it to even be in the product. I would easily put this on a list of my top 3 least favorite products of all time. The original Clinique cleansing balm without the charcoal is great though! Go for that one instead.
