Q: I used color oops Mon,& it did not take all the processed color out. It left it an odd orange reddish color. Im trying to go from red to my natural blonde color. How soon can I use color oops again?

submitted by Karen - 8 years ago
  • A: Hi there!!! So this particular product is for lifting color not removing it. For example: my hair is blue right now, if I use this- it will bring my deep blue to a light blue because that is the base of my hair color right now. Just like the red goes orange- because it's the base color for your red hair. As far as when to use it again, I use it same day if needed.

submitted byListie - 8 years ago
  • A: Color Oops can be used twice in a day but we suggest to wait an additional day. When coloring hair, a mixture of artificial hair color and hydrogen peroxide (oxide/developer) are used to deposit color into the hair. At the same time it is depositing color, the hydrogen peroxide (oxide/developer) can lighten the natural pigment your hair. Therefore, even though you may be coloring darker, your natural pigment may be altered. When color Oops is applied and the artificial color is removed, what is left of your natural color will be exposed. If your natural color was altered, you will see a brassy, red or warm color. In this case, you can re-color to your desired color.

Q: I dyed my hair copper at a salon. Then touch up my hair and my hair ended up looking auburn red. Will this product remove the auburn to help me return to copper hair?

submitted by Cristal - 6 days ago
  • A: Yes, Color Oops can help remove the auburn color and potentially allow you to return to a copper shade. Color Oops is designed to remove permanent oxidative hair color, which is what you likely used when you initially dyed your hair copper and when you touched it up. It works by shrinking the dye molecules, allowing you to wash them away.

Q: I just used it, rinsed and shampooed for the recommended amount, and my hair and bathroom smell AWFUL. How do I resolve?

submitted by Ashley - 2 months ago
  • A: Some organic low molecular weight sulphur-containing chemicals known as Mercaptans have a strong cabbage or bad egg smell. Any Mercaptans that are trapped in the hair fibre (keratin) after rinsing will release this unpleasant smell. Very dry or porous hair is likely to hold on to these chemicals longer so will require several if not more shampoos. In order to remove a persistent odor that has remained in the hair simply wash the hair with the following mixture. Mix 10% of a water soluble bicarbonate/carbonate salt with 90% water and leave on the hair for 5 to 10 minutes. Then without rinsing apply an acid-based solution to acidify the hair, such as 5% white vinegar (acetic acid) or 5% lemon juice (citric acid) mixed with 95% water. Leave this solution on the hair for a further 3 to 5 minutes, then rinse off. This procedure will produce a carbon dioxide gas which will remove the chemicals that cause the odor. Then finish with a pleasant shampoo and condition as usual.

Q: Can I use color oops for hair color that was used after bleaching? The hair stylist went to dark and i want to remove the darkness

submitted by Ese4 - 3 months ago
  • A: Yes, you can use Color Oops if the color that you are going to remove is oxidative, meaning the color was mixed with a developer. If the color is not oxidative Color Oops will not perform.

Q: I have henna and indigo on my curly hair. Will it remove or at least fade the indigo without damage?

submitted by SunshineLee - 3 months ago
  • A: If there is henna in your hair, you can't use Color Oops. Color Oops is not formulated to remove henna. Henna is a metallic and applying Color Oops over it can cause some damage or even hair breakage.

submitted by Morgan - 4 months ago

Q: I was trying to dye my hair auburn but it turned out much darker and more purple than I wanted. I have naturally brown hair that was previously highlighted/dyed red. Will color oops work for me?

I purchased this 10 years ago for an accidental all over dark purple color and loved it. Just re-purchased again today to remove “dark brown” that turned out completely black on me. The color turned out great and much more natural than the black - what I was looking for with my original color. Yes it smells. And rinsing for 20 minutes is not for the weak. But it does work.

I have been using this product for years. I’ve always loved the results it had when I had to remove my hair color red or black. I have light brown hair and it would leave me with a nice copper color. People who tried to remove blue hair with this product it won’t going to work. I’ve seen bad reviews on that you guys are just not doing it right. Definitely recommend and yes, you’re supposed to be rinsing your hair for 20 minutes. :)

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate our customer's input. We're sorry you didn't have the experience you were looking for. There could be so many reasons why Color Oops didn't work for you. Color Oops will only remove oxidative dye meaning color that was mixed with a developer. Color Oops will not remove fantasy colors such as purple, pink blue etc...Please email us at info@developlus.com we would love to hear about the issues you had with our product to see how we can help.

I brought this product with some pretty good expectations and boy can I tell you I should have not had any. I was shocked when I was taking a shower that I was having a tone of hair fall out and was getting concerned. When i was blow drying my hair I realized that my hair was orange/red as I had black hair dye in it and wanted to go back to my natural brown color. My hair is fried and needed to go to a salon to save it and they had to chop a pretty good length off.The smell of the product lingered for at least 3 days which I had washed my hair 6 times to hope it worked and ended up needing to spray myself and the room down with perfume. I’m beyond unsatisfied and disgusted with this product

When coloring hair, a mixture of artificial hair color and hydrogen peroxide (oxide/developer) are used to deposit color into the hair. Therefore, even though you may be coloring darker, your natural pigment may be altered. When color Oops is applied and the artificial color is removed, what is left of your natural color will be exposed. If your natural color was altered, you will see a brassy, red or warm color. I bought it for my red hair after watching sooooo many videos which honestly now seem to be paid I used it my hair turned orange. I had to get it shipped to my country because it honestly looked promising Before red my hair was light/ blond dyed Anyways after 2 uses I went to the salon and they bleached my hair and the hair was still red underneath and it took sooooo much effort and time to take it out with bleach so why pay so much for a useless product that literally does nothing except for smelly hair. My hair had to be bleached again and again to finally get to clean slate they could use another dye on

I can’t get the smell out of my hair even after shampooing and following the directions! Go to your nearest Sally’s instead and buy the little packets of color remover that don’t smell horrific ! I still have color in my hair too.

This is great for removing permanent hair dye. It smells horrible, but it gets the job done with less damage than using a hair lightener (bleach). If you have long or thick hair, you may want to get two bottles. Make sure to have reasonable expectations. This product is unlikely to restore your hair to its original color. You'll likely need to follow up with color correction. The great thing about this product is that you can apply a toner or dye immediately after using it. I've accidentally gone too dark, and this could only lift so much of the black dye out of my over-processed hair. I waited a couple days, using deep conditioning masks, then gave my hair a gentle bleach wash to remove the remaining pigment to achieve the base color I needed. I don't think I could've safely achieved the desired results without first using this color remover. Also, if you dye your hair often, it's nice to use this every once in a while to kind of get a "clean pallet" of hair to work with. That way your hair color comes out more predictable and even.
