Q: I used color oops Mon,& it did not take all the processed color out. It left it an odd orange reddish color. Im trying to go from red to my natural blonde color. How soon can I use color oops again?
A: Color Oops can be used twice in a day but we suggest to wait an additional day. When coloring hair, a mixture of artificial hair color and hydrogen peroxide (oxide/developer) are used to deposit color into the hair. At the same time it is depositing color, the hydrogen peroxide (oxide/developer) can lighten the natural pigment your hair. Therefore, even though you may be coloring darker, your natural pigment may be altered. When color Oops is applied and the artificial color is removed, what is left of your natural color will be exposed. If your natural color was altered, you will see a brassy, red or warm color. In this case, you can re-color to your desired color.

For example: my hair is blue right now, if I use this- it will bring my deep blue to a light blue because that is the base of my hair color right now. Just like the red goes orange- because it's the base color for your red hair. As far as when to use it again, I use it same day if needed.

Q: Will Oops work on built up semi-permanent color? It's not washing out, as advertised.
A: No, traditional Color Oops (the kind in the red or yellow box) is not designed for and will not work on built-up, direct-dye semi-permanent colors like most bold fashion colors, which sit on the hair's surface. You may have better luck with Color Oops Bold Remover, a separate, specialized product from the same brand designed to remove direct dyes, but you must first test it on a strand of your hair to confirm it will work on your specific dye.

Q: I have dyed medium brown hair. Can I use color oops to only remove small strips of color on my hair to create highlights since my natural color is a light brown? And after that since it will most likely be brassy can I the use a purple shampoo to tone it?
A: You can use Color Oops to remove some dyed brown color, but it's not recommended for creating highlights or for precise, localized color removal, as it aims to remove all artificial dye in a large area and can result in unpredictable, brassy, or uneven tones rather than just highlights. You can use a purple shampoo to tone down the brassiness afterward, but it's advisable to consult a professional stylist for a controlled highlight application to achieve your desired look safely.

Q: I dyed my hair copper at a salon. Then touch up my hair and my hair ended up looking auburn red. Will this product remove the auburn to help me return to copper hair?
A: Yes, Color Oops can help remove the auburn color and potentially allow you to return to a copper shade. Color Oops is designed to remove permanent oxidative hair color, which is what you likely used when you initially dyed your hair copper and when you touched it up. It works by shrinking the dye molecules, allowing you to wash them away.

Q: I just used it, rinsed and shampooed for the recommended amount, and my hair and bathroom smell AWFUL. How do I resolve?
A: Some organic low molecular weight sulphur-containing chemicals known as Mercaptans have a strong cabbage or bad egg smell. Any Mercaptans that are trapped in the hair fibre (keratin) after rinsing will release this unpleasant smell. Very dry or porous hair is likely to hold on to these chemicals longer so will require several if not more shampoos. In order to remove a persistent odor that has remained in the hair simply wash the hair with the following mixture. Mix 10% of a water soluble bicarbonate/carbonate salt with 90% water and leave on the hair for 5 to 10 minutes. Then without rinsing apply an acid-based solution to acidify the hair, such as 5% white vinegar (acetic acid) or 5% lemon juice (citric acid) mixed with 95% water. Leave this solution on the hair for a further 3 to 5 minutes, then rinse off. This procedure will produce a carbon dioxide gas which will remove the chemicals that cause the odor. Then finish with a pleasant shampoo and condition as usual.
