Q: Can I brown food on stove and then slow cook In slow cooker?
A: Best to use stove pan for searing BC you need to sear most meat to lock in flavor & juices. So, the ceramic insert is for "slow" cooking. Tip: They make slow cooking inserts to save cleaning!
submitted by30YrCX - 7 months agoA: I don't think so. Suggest using a skillet
submitted byBeenthere216 - 2 years agoA: Yes. The best way to prep beef for stew.
submitted byEubbie - 7 months agoA: Yes. This is recommended for most beef. It makes it taste sooooo much better.
submitted byUnmei - 5 months agoA: Definitely! Will keep warm until ready to eat!
submitted bySarah - 9 days agoA: Hi AC! We hope you are healthy and staying safe. Yes, we actually recommend that you brown the food on the stove first before slow-cooking.

Q: is this item round or oval
A: Not automatic. Must switch manually.
submitted byDeb - 3 months agoA: The width and depth specifications for this crock-pot are different -- so, it is an oval. (Not sure why they answered you that it is round!)
submitted byBecca - 2 years agoA: Does this crockpot switch from low/high to warm after a certain amount of time? Or does it have to be manually switched?
submitted byAshley - 1 year agoA: This is a round crock pot the width and depth are different because the WIDTH INCLUDES THE HANDLES... luv this lil crockpot.

Q: Can I use the pot to cook on the stove top before slow cooking?
A: No. You will need to brown in a skillet before putting it into the liner pot.
submitted byivorykeys - 1 year agoA: No. Neither the pot nor inner liner are stove top safe.
submitted byAmy - 1 year agoA: No, you can not use it on the stove top.
submitted byRadiva - 9 months agoA: Hello! Thanks for your question! The stoneware pot in most Crockpot slow cookers is designed specifically for slow cooking and isn't safe for stovetop use. Exposing it to direct heat on the stove can cause it to crack. For further assistance, please contact us through email, phone or the contact form available on our website. Q: How does ceramic wash as opposed to stoneware
A: Great. If you have to soak it first just make sure you don't use Hot water if the ceramic pot cooled down too much. Just use room temp water.
submitted byivorykeys - 1 year agoA: I am not sure about stoneware but I have always found the crock pot liners easy to clean.
submitted byAmy - 1 year agoA: Hello. Thank you for reaching out to us. Please be informed that all our stoneware products are coated with a ceramic glaze made from a silicate blend of quartz, feldspar, and clay. The glaze is covered over the pot, fired at high temperature to melt the glaze and then cooled down. The glaze liquid is then turned into coating the same as glass film on the surface of the pot which makes cleaning easy, and ensures a smooth, polished surface for long-lasting use. We hope this information proves helpful. If you have any further questions, you can reach out to us directly via our official CrockPot website's "Contact us" page or through LiveChat. We’re available Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern Time. We will be glad to help you. Thank you! CrockPot Consumer Care.

Q: I have a 6 quart crock pot and whether I choose low or high, the food is always overcooked. I cook for myself so maybe I'm not putting enough food in? What size would you recommend for one person that would generate 4-5 portions?
A: Crock-Pot has dramatically increased the temperature of the heating element from what it was years ago, presumably due to worries about food-borne illness. It is very difficult to cook properly with modern slow cookers. I would recommend you scour garage sales for older models, which cook much more reliably.
submitted byDyann B - 5 years agoA: Thank you so much for your question. We’re sorry to hear about what happened to your food. To avoid over- or under-cooking, always fill the stoneware ½ to ¾ full to conform to recommended cook times with the exception of certain cakes and custards, and as guided in our slow cooker recipes. For further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-323-9519. Our Consumer Care Team is open from 9 am to 5 pm EST Monday to Friday. submitted byCrockPot Support Team - 5 years agoBrand expertA: All my Crockpots over the past 5-10 yr have overheated, no matter what the setting. Last time I did 2 roasts, should have taken 8 hr on low. At 5 hr, it was actually boiling, and the meat was overdone

A: Hello, this is Collins from Crockpot! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question! There is no power indicator light on the Crock-Pot 4.5qt Manual Slow Cooker. To start using it, plug in the slow cooker and select the temperature setting from the three setting options. Q: DOES THIS CROCK P0T HAVE A TIMER TO SHUT OFF OR DOES IT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF ANYTIME?
A: Hey there, Deedee! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question. This manual slow cooker does not have a timer and cannot be set to turn off automatically. Once you turn the slow cooker on, it stays on until you shut it off. This product is manually operated with a control knob and must be manually switched to Warm or Off when cooking is completed. We hope this information helps. Thank you and have a nice day!
submitted byCrockPot Support Team - 4 years agoBrand expertA: Nope, this crock pot is manual. You will have to turn it on & off manually.
