CURLSMITH Frizz Rescue Curl Retainer Standard Size - Ulta Beauty

I cannot overstate how much I absolutely love this Frizz Rescue because it does exactly what it promises! I have fine 2C curls and have been repairing damage from over processing that occurred earlier this year. I've an absolute salons worth of care and styling products lining my counter and cabinets but nothing was doing much to help for long enough to get me through the entire day with my hair intact. During 21DOB I bought this and used it to delightful results, prompting me to buy backup when it returned at the end of the sale. After I wash and condition, while still in the shower, I spread a nickel sized amount of this between my hands and scrunch it into my sopping wet hair while squeezing out excess water. Then just let it all air dry. My curls form beautifully and HOLD the whole day while remaining soft to the touch. I'm just bowled over by the results and hope they never change the formulation or discontinue the product as I'm now a buyer for life!

this product is amazing I highly recommend it.

I have curls underneath but wavy on top. This brought out my curls all around!! It's the first time I've worn my hair curly in years and years!!

The product is good but the bottle design is terrible for the product consistency. The bottle is a really hard plastic that is difficult to squeeze. Even with unscrewing the cap it's hard to get the product out. I don't have that problem with the hydro gel. For that reason I wouldn't buy the frizz rescue again.

I really enjoyed this product. It gives my hair nice hold and keeps the frizz at bay all day long. The only problem I have with it is it's very difficult to get the product out of the bottle and that's why I'm giving it lower stars.

I have very loose curls and waves. The hair at my crown is dryer than underneath and doesnt curl as well. With this product their is very little difference in curl texture/pattern because it brings out the curl so well. This one takes the place of wny curl cream/mousse or gel combo. It adds moisture without weighing down hair. 10/10.

I've purchased this product several times and loved it, my son also loved it and had started to use it too. I bought 4 bottles last month to make sure we had enough for both of us and the product formula changed and is terrible now. I would not recommend!

I can't figure out what the issue is that people have with this gel!! I LOVE it!!! This and Hyrdo Style Flexi Jelly are my 2 top gels from Curlsmith. I tend to use this one on humid/rainy days, as it has a bit more hold for me than Flexi Jelly does. I like to use the Feather Light Protein Cream underneath both gels, mainly because my curls love protein and it's light enough that - unlike most other creams - it doesn't weigh my curls down. I use a lot of this gel - like a palm full - every time I use it. But I'm like that with most gels because I like excellent, all-day definition. I like shiny, bouncy, non-crunchy curls with lots of definition, and I get that with Frizz Rescue Curl Retainer. I am not crazy about the other matching products in this line. But I do LOVE this gel.

I love this gel. I do wish the fragrance was slightly less aggressive, but even as is, it's my favorite gel. Would probably prefer a pump too, but again, i love it.

This is a product that has a learning curve, and I used 1/3 of the bottle before figuring out how to use it on my fine waves/curls. It's moisturizing so I don't use a leave in conditioner with this product. I shampoo and condition as normal and then apply liberally to wet hair. I smooth it through my hair, no need to apply on scalp, then I apply my other styling products and scrunch them in. Frizz Rescue has a light to medium hold so I use a stronger hold gel with it and a volumizing mousse at my roots. I diffuse it dry and scrunch out the crunch with Curlsmith's bonding oil. It does seem to help with frizz and I smooth a little on dry hair if the frizz gets too bad on subsequent days. This technique gives me great hair for two days, good hair for one more day, and on the 4th day I start over.

I was surprised to see such negative reviews for this. I cocktail this with the hydro jelly and my hair has very little frizz and great curl for up to 3 days (normally wash every other day). I don't think using it alone would do much, but with the hydro jelly, I literally don't prefer anything else. I have coarse, 3 a/b curls. I do add a small amount of the ouai frizz creme to touch it up in between washes also.

My daughter and I smelled this in store and said we had to try it. Unfortunately, the smell overhyped us on the product. My daughter has corkscrew curls, while I have big waves. She said she prefers the shape up aqua gel for her curls, as it gives her a much better hold for her curls to last longer. This only really gives my hair a good hold on day one, then my waves slowly loosen each day after. I'm hoping to have better luck with the Hydro style flexi jelly because I'm allergic to one ingredient in the Aqua gel. Our hair isn't really frizzy, we were truly persuaded by the scent. If you aren't worried about the hold longevity of your curls or waves, then this might be a good choice. We would probably keep buying this, if the hold lasted past day one.

It does help with frizz. It also drys out your scalp, give you such severe dandruff you get checked for lice because it's so itchy. There you are told nope you have SEVERE dandruff ( which you have never had in your life.). Then you wash you hair and SOO much hair falls out your fiancée thinks you forgot to clean the drain for days ( you didn't it was ONE wash). You throw this product away and within two days you scalp is better and your hair is no longer falling out. Your hair will be much thinner but at least your not bald. BE WARNED. This was purchased through ulta so they can verify my purchase. ZERO STARS AND THEY ARE LUCKY THERE IS NOT A LAWSUIT.

I have coarse 2A hair didn't really help with the frizz even after applying moisturizing products like leave in conditioner, curl smith oil in cream, and argan oil.

This product works great on the first application! my hair looks beautiful, healthy, moisturized, and my curls are very defined with a flexible hold. HOWEVER - towards the end of the day, it gets ungodly frizzy and brittle? I tried touching it up with a light leave in spray (water and the frizz rescue leave in coconditioner) and again, looks great upon application but ends up falling out and looking frizzy/dry by end of day. I really wanted to like this! If my hair looks how it did when I first apply it ALL DAY, it would be a 10/10.

Will not get this again. Instead of defining curls, it made my hair stiff an straight!

Was using Hydroflex and saw this as hair tends to get frizzy when it's drier out. I love this, holds well and does keep the frizz down. Sometimes I will mix this with some hydro flex. Great product and on my second bottle. I have curly, thin hair which is also colored.
