CURLSMITH Hold Me Softly Style Balm Standard Size - Ulta Beauty

I have thick, waist length, 2c hair. This balm did a great job at defining my wave texture while keeping my hair soft with no sticky residue. I used this balm on the lengths and then followed with some effortless waves spray all over. I let it air dry and it still looked good after sleeping on it, I just touched up with a little moisture reactivator spray. Usually products that don't create a cast don't hold up so well overnight but this combo (balm plus wave spray) did. The scent is fine. It's more "natural" but dissipates quickly.

Just made my hair look and feel super greasy and weird. Like weighed down and kinda sticky/clumped together. I have fine hair for the record. Did not put any on roots.

I am sensitive to scents, and have fine hair which can be wavy to curly, as long as it isn't weighed down. Using a little of this will help to give me a touch of flexible hold. The scent is clean and nice, not overpowering and goes away. Doesn't make my hair crunchy or feel like there is a lot of stuff product in it. I've been using it for a few years now, and it is one of my go to products.

After washing and detangling my hair I add this balm and brush with a wet hair brush. It adds moisture and definition to my curls, I finish up with gel or mousse to give a stronger hold. I also use it to refresh my curls when it they get a little puffy or dry.

it's perfect but a little heavy and easy to use too much. I have thin hair so I know to only use a little thick honestly is a plus because now the bottle will last longer!!!

I prefer the air dry cream better. I thought that this would be similar to that, but with a little bit of hold, so my curls would be more defined, however, it made my hair dry and I didn't like how thick it was when I was putting it on my hair.

My hair is that "irish curl" type, wavy underneath but not on top, and if styled without any wave definition it's a complete mess. This balm fixes that! I add a small amount to my hair post-shower by raking it through/scrunching and let it air dry. It definitely helps hydrate and define my frizzy waves better than any product I've tried so far. If used with a gel, I might get more hold, but this is a good first step!

At first I doubted this product was for me bc I have 4b 4c hair and have only used gels with curl creams for styling fir the last 10 years. CurlSmith recommended to me on their site's quiz. However, Im so glad I got this! Most natural hair products are too heavy for me and sit on my hair, making it greasy and not moisturized and or dry and flaky. However, this one was lightweight and gave my hair immediate definition. I really like this alone, but I also like it combined with the Weightless Air Dry Cream. I apply both in the shower on soaking wet hair and distribute with my paddlebrush and denman brush. The first time, I did bantu knots to set for a curly hairstyle the next day. It dried before I even went to sleep! Even before I went to sleep, I could feel the softness in my hair and see the visible shine my hair had on the roots. I have never had my hair shine before like with CurlSmith Products. It was like a Naptural85 type of shine that I didnt even know was possible for me! Please go get this product if you have hair like mine. The hold is great for a curl cream/balm. I can use it to set my edges and smooth for a puff also. I can use it to dry refresh my curls without it reverting.

I have wavy/curly hair. Products are usually too heavy and weigh my hair down OR too light and do absolutely nothing. Got the travel size to try it out. Defined waves/curls and reduced frizz. So happy.

I was hoping this would work for me but it did not help with frizz as I live in Florida with very high humidity. Also it smells terrible.

I love this product! It's light weight and it does wonders to my curls! It doesn't leave any flakes like other curl products. It's very easy to apply. I totally recommend. Only problem is the price. Therefore I suggest stocking up when it's on sale.

I absolutely love this product and how it has a tiny bit of hold to it which is perfect for me (I don't like crunchy hair gels). I purchased the trial size in store. I feel that it is waaaay less greasy than Ouidad's Featherlight Style Cream and it goes on damp hair much easily. A little goes a long way and I often mix it with a bit of hair serum. Will be purchasing the full size!

i got this product as a part of ulta's curly girl essential set for christmas in 2023 and after trying this one a couple times i would say its def not an essential. probably good for thinner lighter hair but for people with thicker wavier/curlier hair it has very little hold. day 1 hair looks good but by day 3 the curls are very lightly defined and it just looks more frizzy than anything. i would recommend mousse, gel, etc to enhance this cream's "hold" but even using my go-to mousse/gel the hold only lasts three days before it looks a mess. will not purchase a full version or even another mini version

I hope they never discontinue this!!! I use this generously under my gel on wash days (on very wet hair) and it smooths and softens my coarse, low porosity hair like a dream! I also love to use this to dry refresh my curls on days 2-4 and its amazing at smoothing down my frizz! It's so lightweight and I love that it dries down super soft :-)
