Danby DAC080B8IWDB-6 8000 BTU Window AC in White

This Danby A/C unit is rather quiet, as advertised. Plus, it is much more aesthetically appealing than my last window A/C. I am very happy with this purchase.

This is a review of Danby 8,000 BTU inverter air conditioner, Model Number: DAC080B8IWDB-6. This cools effectively to my preferred temp (mid to upper 70s F in 90 degree weather) and is extremely quiet. Like all inverters there is a very high-pitched hum but it is so soft that it is not noticeable to me or to my cat. I do not use the wifi or the remote so I cannot rate them. The user manual is poor. It provides 6 pages of installation instructions (which are repeated in a separate insert) and 4 pages of safety notices/warnings such as, "Your air conditioner should be...protected from moisture." Most of it is hanging out the window--are we supposed to put a raincoat on it when it rains? There are another 6 pages of safety instructions for service techs. The actual user instructions are 1 page each for the AC, the remote control, legal requirements for the remote control, the wifi, and the care and use--all of them are very sketchy. This is exacerbated by the near impossibility of getting anyone on the telephone. So, although the AC would rate 4.5 stars it loses one star for the poor instruction manual and one star for the lack of telephone support. That leaves 2.5 stars.

Just installed my window AC without any problems. My room is cooling down in a hurry!

This a/c is the real deal. It has mode for dry which extracts humidity from the air all the time cooling your room.

There is a loud pitch when starting the AC which may dissappear after a couple of minutes. But nonetheless, it is a good air conditionner.

very well made - took me awhile to finally get around to install this unit replacing an older in window AC - but I was amazed at how quiet it is compared to the old unit! Highly recommended and would not hesitate to get another if needed. I actually installed this in a window opening using a slider window so I just ordered a sheet of tempered glass to match the width and height of the opening and just closed the slider up tight to seal the opening.

I'm posting a review because I have a similar Danby (model# dac080b71wdb-6). Mine is an inverter exactly like this one. If you need an AC, this one DAC080B8IWDB looks good to me. Based on my experience with the one I have had running since the last few weeks of May, this AC is absolutely an innovation. It is quiet. It COOLS so well! It is an effective dehumidifier. I have had to run it on dry mode fairly continuously since outdoor Summer misery has been a daily 85 to 91°F high (it's just mid June) with high humidity 70% or higher. My central AC is brand new but this room I installed the Window AC definitely needed it because I don't like anything above 68°F or humidity above 50%. This Danby AC is amazing. I truly wish Target would get them stock in their store, please! These inverter type window ACs are vastly better than any conventional on/off compressor window AC. Target, please get these Danby inverter ACs on the floor in stores! They run way more efficiently. Seriously, who can live without AC in much of the East or South? None! Climate control is essential, especially for controlling humidity. Get this Danby inverter AC. It will save your room and you from this miserable heat. Get one to protect your electronics and things from heat and humidity. Get one for someone you love! Get one for your dog! This is a real person review. I'm totally enjoying my Danby AC as I write this in a room that is 66°F and 44% humidity. This is awesome. This thing can bring the room temp down to 61°F and 35% humidity at night. It's wonderful!
