Q: This is a comment. I was beyond frustrated when my daughter went to clean out the hamster cage with the new dawn and I got really sick. Autoimmune issues. We've used Dawn for all cleaning for 24 yrs. New scent is not working.

While I didn’t use enough to make me sick or anything, the new scent is truly horrible so it’s time to change brands, I can’t remember a time I didn’t use Dawn so this is a true bummer. First Tide went to crap now Dawn, I guess everything is just going down hill from here.

This soap cleans my dishes better than any other I’ve tried. It gets all the grease and oil off in just a few wipes. It smells pleasant not too strong but strong enough to make ur hand smell clean after use. It has a great price for how well it works.

This new “clean scent” sticks to the dishes despite ample rinsing. My coffee smells like this horrible smell. It’s not pleasant- it’s like a bad smell trying to be covered up by too much air freshener. You ruined the best household product on the market.

It’s so bad that unless I can find some bottles of the original scent, I am going to have to change dishwashing liquids. I have seen several other reviews of people who reached out to P&G about the smell and received responses basically saying “sorry, not sorry”. What a shame.

Changed some of the ingredients and scent. Bring back the original please, I used that for over 20 years. The new formula makes my hands itch and the smell is bad. Why do companies change what isn’t broke? This is a classic with a lot of loyal customers. Change just for change sake isn’t good. Dawn original should stay the classic Dawn original. I had to change to a different brand. So sad as I did love original Dawn for so many years.

I have used Dawn since it first came out many years ago. The new scent is absolutely awful! Bring back the original scent. I don’t know how anyone thought this scent was better! There was no reason for changing it. Because of the smell I only rated it with one star. I guess I’ll have to find something else to use.

My mom had used dawn for 40+ years and I have used it for 20+. After this new scent change, we have switched to a new brand. It smells terrible and lingers on dishes. It makes me so nauseous to drink a cup of coffee and smell a floral scent. It makes me wonder what chemicals I am ingesting on my “clean dishes”

I have used dawn for a very long time. I stopped shortly for fear it would hurt my bird since I was his dishes every day. Once i found out it was safe to use for him, i switched back. Now that this scent has changed and become more perfumey, I am now scared to use it for him as some perfumes are toxic for birds. I feel I now need to switch back to seventh generation for his safety. I also see that there are replies sayin to try a different product. That seems to be a typical money hungry business that doesn't care about the customer, as it appears dawn does not with all the complaints.

I've been using Dawn Detergent for as long as I can remember. For 20 years it was the only soap I purchased for my window cleaning business. I used it for anything and everything that needed to be cleaned. Recently, the fragrance was changed to the most subtly sickening smell I have ever encountered. It actually makes me nauseous. My understanding is that Dawn has been the #1 dish soap for years.....why change it? Unfortunately, I'm going to stop buying it. I have no idea what I'll replace it with, but I will.

I am so bummed that Dawn is the latest in a long, long line of companies that has decided it's better for them to completely alienate their loyal customers in order to save a few pennies per bottle. The new scent is truly atrocious and I will be buying a different dish soap from here on out. Let me know if you ever decide to change it back!

This fragrance change was implemented after receiving positive feedback during extensive testing with consumers. I cannot not use the new clean scent dawn. I even resorted to hand washing a few things with Windex to avoid the headache. Sorry as we have been using dawn for more years than I can remember and I'm nearly 70. I realize the heading on this feedback page says Dawn Original Dishwashing Liquid but the bottom of the form listed clean scent. We need the original back or this will start to kill the baby ducks.

We can assure you that all Dawn products, including its perfumes, are extensively evaluated for safety and are safe for use as directed. This includes the use of Dawn for emergency first-aid intervention by trained professionals in accidental exposures of animals – including accidental oil contamination of marine wildlife. As well, a lot of thought goes into creating features that we think you'll like, and this fragrance change was implemented after receiving positive feedback during extensive testing with consumers. If you'd like to remove any scent from your dishes, we suggest soaking them in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added to it or running them through the dishwasher (assuming the dishes are dishwasher safe). I cannot stand the new "clean" scent! It's sweet and fake smelling. Reminds me of the newer laundry detergent and dryer sheets with the same chemically made sweet scent. I keep my windows shut when neighbors are drying clothes to avoid it. Now it's in my dish liquid! I bought another brand. At least, give people the choice of the original scent. It's iconic and that is what smells clean. Those poor ducks that now get washed with that smell..
