  • A: It works best when it’s added to the rinse cycle. In most cases (normal or heavy loads) the bleach tray will open during the rinse cycle so you’re good.

  • A: If your machine doesn't have a spot for fabric softener, shake the bottle well before use, then measure the liquid fabric softener using the cap. Push laundry aside to avoid pouring directly on laundry, and add during the final rinse cycle.

  • A: Downy Rinse is a rinse-added product, so it goes in the fabric softener dispenser on most wash machines, it can be added in the center post agitator for traditional top-loading machines, or it can be added directly to the drum during the rinse cycle. It should not be used alongside fabric softener in the same load.

Gross smell totally unexpected from Downy

This is super gross and I’m very disappointed since I enjoy the smell of other Downy products a lot, and was certain this would be a winner. However both my wife and I agree the odor is unpleasant when you open the bottle, but was certain in the wash it would be different… sadly it still smelled gross and now I had a load of laundry to fix. After two washing with my usual soap and Downy scent beads (still love the beads) we could finally not smell this rinse product. The gross smell seems to be a mixture of awful musk and a musty Deet or sweat kind of odor. I will be returning and do not recommend the rinse products at all (because I tried the other fragrances as well and all of them have an unpleasant sweat/musty odor effect!). Hoping Downy goes back to formula to formula.

Smells like DEET

This smells very strongly of bug spray. I used it once and now all of my laundry reeks It is eye watering. I wish I could return it. How can this be a product that exists?
