Our clothes are in constant contact with bacteria throughout our day-to-day activities, for example through contact with contaminated surfaces, other people and our own bodies. Q: I watched my laundry cycle. My rinse cycle is only 13 minutes. So according to Lysol my clothes are not sanitized. If I pause the load the water will eventually start to drain. Any suggestions?

  • A: That is the wrong way, you are wasting money. It is only effective in the rinse cycle and must be in the rinse cycle for 16 minutes. Those are the detailed directions.

Q: Do I STOP the rinse cyle with clothes submerged in water, put it in and let clothes soak for 16 minutes and push start on the cycle once the 16 minutes is up? OR, just put it in and let it be?

Q: Would this product be effective if I added it to the drum of the washer by itself, agitated, then stopped and let it soak, then let it rinse. Then did a SECOND wash with detergent alone?

  • A: It is best to follow the usage instructions for the best results. Allow for clothes to be washed by your detergent first, then add Lysol Laundry Sanitizer directly to the rinse cycle. You can let it soak for 15 minutes.

Disinfects and no more stinky workout clothes!

I heard about this product from @jeeves_ny on Instagram since I needed something to get rid of the stink from my workout clothes even after washing and drying. I pair this with a hypoallergenic, unscented laundry detergent in my top loader and it all works great. The benefit of this product is that it disinfects and also goes after the source that's causing the odor. Scented detergent and scent boosters only hide the smelly odors but don't eliminate it. There's a scented Lysol laundry sanitizer too if you prefer.

Helps keep the funk away

Obviously I can’t tell you if it’s actually killing all the bacteria in my laundry, but I can tell you that I live with my 2 dogs, 3 sons and husband, and (as long as I also bleach a load once a week or so) I can accidentally leave their endlessly filthy laundry in the washer for 36 to 48 hours, and it probably won’t get the funk as long as I’ve used this stuff - even the socks. Regardless of its true disinfecting capabilities, I just like to feel like it’s an extra line of defense from all of the booger-and-bodily-fluid bugs I know are crawling on every surface of my house these days. I buy unscented in hopes that it’s a little less toxic/hormone disrupting.
