Q: I watched my laundry cycle. My rinse cycle is only 13 minutes. So according to Lysol my clothes are not sanitized. If I pause the load the water will eventually start to drain. Any suggestions?

A: Lysol Laundry Sanitizer should be used in conjunction with laundry detergent. Wash cycle additives such as stain remover can also be used. Lysol Laundry Sanitizer is formulated to be used in the rinse cycle without additional additives, such as fabric softener. Lysol Laundry Sanitizer provides a limited softening effect.

A: That is the wrong way, you are wasting money. It is only effective in the rinse cycle and must be in the rinse cycle for 16 minutes. Those are the detailed directions.

A: It is best to follow the usage instructions for the best results. Allow for clothes to be washed by your detergent first, then add Lysol Laundry Sanitizer directly to the rinse cycle. You can let it soak for 15 minutes.

A: Hi Michelle. Thank you for your question about our Lysol® Free & Clear Laundry Sanitizer. This product should be used in the fabric softener compartment, which can be found either within the dispenser drawer or atop the agitator depending on your machine type. Do NOT add product to the bleach compartment. If top-loading machine does not have a fabric softener compartment, then the product can be manually added during the rinse cycle by using the "pause" feature and dosing the product directly into the drum. Alternatively, you can run a "Rinse & Spin" cycle (name may vary by machine type) and add the product directly to the drum. Do NOT add any detergent or bleach product to the Rinse & Spin cycle.
The product can also be used as a pre-soak disinfectant. Please follow usage instructions on pack.

Lysol unscented sanitizer for aparment use!
I live in an apartment complex. You never know who washed what before you and the germs they left behind! I actually have caught infections from doing my laundry behind others! My boyfriend said the soap in the washer kills germs and the water washes this away…I am an operating room nurse and I am here to say that is not true! After washing my clothes as I normally would I wash again and put it on the wash cycle when the water has filled let it mix in and then put my door wedge so the lid doesn’t close all the way let is sit the 17 minutes it says to do, then I remove the wedge and let it finish wash cycle then it goes on to rinse. Even the unscented to me still has a scent to it but after that wash it rinses doesn’t leave a scent on the clothes. Yes for me without my own washer it costs me more but to me so worth it not to catch anything! Hope this helps someone. I also use Tide Hygienic Clean unscented. It’s fantastic it extracts dirt and soap from your laundry!
