Our clothes are in constant contact with bacteria throughout our day-to-day activities, for example through contact with contaminated surfaces, other people and our own bodies. Q: I watched my laundry cycle. My rinse cycle is only 13 minutes. So according to Lysol my clothes are not sanitized. If I pause the load the water will eventually start to drain. Any suggestions?

Lysol Laundry Sanitizer is formulated to be used in the rinse cycle without additional additives, such as fabric softener. Lysol Laundry Sanitizer provides a limited softening effect.

Q: Do I STOP the rinse cyle with clothes submerged in water, put it in and let clothes soak for 16 minutes and push start on the cycle once the 16 minutes is up? OR, just put it in and let it be?

Q: Would this product be effective if I added it to the drum of the washer by itself, agitated, then stopped and let it soak, then let it rinse. Then did a SECOND wash with detergent alone?

A: It is best to follow the usage instructions for the best results. Allow for clothes to be washed by your detergent first, then add Lysol Laundry Sanitizer directly to the rinse cycle. You can let it soak for 15 minutes.

The packaging is easy to use but protective enough kids can’t get into it. It has a slight scent but not overwhelming. I add it in with my laundry detergent and my scent beads and it does really well!

Laundry feels and smells clean and I have peace of mind that I have sanitized the laundry thoroughly. I prefer the unscented version over the scented because the scented one has dyes, so the unscented is great for sensitive skin.

I was hopeful that it would help get the funk out of clothing like polyester or to clean things that seemed extra gross. I was disappointed by the directions as the amount that it says to use does not fit into my fabric softener tray. While I could add this to the run cycle, I don’t like the idea of having to stop my load midway to add an additional product to the washing machine . I think for specific tasks using it with a rinse only cycle would make sense. I do think this product works well, I just wish the product was more concentrated so that I didn’t have to add such a high volume, but that might make it caustic for the user. If I worked in the medical field, or had toddlers throwing up on me often, I think this would be a really useful product. But, outside of the occasional use case (like sanitizing thrift finds) I won’t be adding it to my laundry routine.

I was concerned at first because the liquid has a strong smell, but once added to the wash, you can’t tell the difference. I have been using it for things that could use some extra cleaning and it has been great. It’s concentrated so the small container will go a long way.

I really love how this sanitizer isn't harsh for her skin and it gives me a peace of mind. I think the packaging is great, I had zero issues with the spout. I’ve never tried this version before, but it’s clear, and the smell reminds me of windex. But it’s clear still works the same. My clothes don’t get damaged and still come out feeling soft.
