Description

Dr. Brown’s Medical Specialty Feeding System Bottle (SFS) was designed in collaboration with medical professionals seeking an oral feeding solution for infants identified with complex feeding challenges such as cleft lip and palate, ankyloglossia, high-arched palate, oro-neuromotor dysfunction, common or rare syndromic sequences and/or craniofacial anomalies. The Specialty Feeding System exhibits the essential qualities of a Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow bottle which includes the internal vent system, clinically proven to reduce colic – spit-up, burping, and gas. This bottle system also helps preserve vitamins C, A, and E in breast milk. The included Infant-Paced Feeding Valve is inserted into a Narrow Dr. Brown’s silicone nipple to create a “compression” nipple. When used in combination with a Dr. Brown’s bottle system, the blue one-way valve assists the infant in self-regulation during oral feedings. The infant feeding system offers a consistent and reliable nipple flow rate for infant-directed feedings, and the non-squeeze method helps decrease gassiness, air intake, and burping. Dishwasher (top rack only) and sterilizer safe for convenient cleaning.

Dr. Brown’s Medical Specialty Feeding System Includes: 4 oz 2x/120 mL Baby Bottle, 2x Level 1 Silicone Nipple, 2x Infant-Paced Feeding Valves, and Cleaning Brush.

    Best bottle for cleft palate

These bottles have been a lifesaver for my cleft palate baby. We tried a couple of different specialty feeders and these were the best. Screwing the cap on correctly with the green insert can be tricky. I think that's where all of the comments about leaks are coming from. You have to make sure its threading correctly. Much better than the Haberman aka the Medela specialty feeder bottles which are just awful and leak no matter what even when assembled correctly. I also have an axe to grind with Medela after they stopped making thier regular bottles that go with thier pumps. Totally a cost saving measure disguised in holier-than-thou language about WHO guidlines that throws spacial needs babies and thier families under the bus. The squeezy Pigeon type feeders aren't bad but these Dr Browns bottles are easy to explain to family/friends who want to help feed the baby. It would be nice to be able to buy the little blue disks in a separate bulk pack as well as the sippy cup nipples.

    Life saver but..

It did help us a lot with our daughter's cleft plate, but something we noticed a lot is that the caps dont close fully no matter how tight they are , so air keeps escaping which made it harder for our little one to have enough milk because she d get tired, and we had a lot of bottles with the same issue, a gentle squeeze on one of your plastic bottles and air is flying out the sides of the cap and milk is dripping down the exterior of the bottle.

    Love/hate

Dr. Brown’s needs to work on their blue discs. My baby was born with a cleft lip and palate and between this and pidgeon bottle there are no options. So while the concept is amazing, the blue discs themselves hold up terribly. I have used these discs for 2 months and half of them stopped working. The inside part of the blue discs themselves hold stops movement and making the baby suck in air. And you have to then buy the whole set again just to buy more blue discs. Stop selling faulty products that don’t even last the duration your baby will need them. And then to make it so expensive to buy the pieces is hard. So word of advice buy extra or you’ll be in a spot when you need more.

    Love it for my newborn

I got the bottles to give breast milk to my baby in public. I tried other brands and she would always choke but not with Dr.Brown’s bottles! She loves them, I love them! For those doing their research for which bottles to get don’t waste your money on other brands just buy these!

    Love it but!

My daughter was both with a cleft palate and lip and these have been wonderful for feeding. Only bottles I will use with her. However the only downside is I wish I could just buy the pacer disc separately. They are so easy to lose and I have more bottles than I do discs and I just wish I could by the discs somewhere

Dr. Brown obviously has never bottle fed a baby

Seriously I wouldn’t feed a cow with these bottles. The flow rate is so fast that my baby can’t even take a brake without choking.

    Bottles leak

Im sorry but these bottles really aren’t that great. They leak no matter how full they are. After baby is done eating, I take the bottle away only to have milk pour out down the bottle and all over my hands, furniture, all over the baby. I’ve been using them for 3 months and each time I am frustrated by how bad they leak. I honestly don’t know what the big hype is about these bottles… I can’t be the only one having this issue. I am going to switch to EvenFlo bottles, I am done messing with Dr Browns leaky ones. They would be great if they didn’t leak so bad! I never fill them past the line so there should be no reason for this, and I assemble all the bottle’s correctly!

    They leak!

I was so determined and excited to use Dr.Browns, but They all leak! On thier website they say it's because the the nipple flow is too slow so it builds pressure, so I went up a size in the dr browns brand nipple and it's too fast of a flow for my baby. We have tried putting the lids on tighter, looser, and they still leak. There is nothing more aggravating than feeding at 3am and having milk run down the bottle and making a mess especially breast milk that you've worked hard for. When you google Dr.Browns there are multipleartices about them leaking. On their Facebook page, all you see are comments about how they leak. They are too expensive to be leaking. Hopefully soon we will be learning to use a sippy cup (not dr browns brand.) And we won't have to deal with this anymore.

    Leaking issue

Anticolic, but not Anti leak. I’ve tried so many different ways with these bottles yet they never seen a leak. I tighten the cap as tight as it can still leaks. It even leaks with just one ounce of milk. These bottles really suck. I’m so unhappy that I put them on my baby registry. I’m so displeased unfortunate. I don’t have any other choice but to use them since they are a little better than Dr. Bonners. Yet, I am starting to really think maybe I should go buy some Dr. Bonners bottles instead. I’d rather take slow producing over leaking. What a waste of money.

    Awful - leaking

Picture it, you've finally cleaned your house, changed into fresh clothes, and babe is snug as a bug. Then, you go to feed and there is milk EVERYWHERE! Milk leaking all over babe, milk rings on every surface, even milk drops on the floor. These bottles aren't worth it. Leaking aside, the vents are a pain to clean and the brush that comes with does less than ideal job. The vent is required to assemble the bottle so you can't even ditch those. Trouble shooting suggests getting a different flow nipple and that still doesn't seem to help with the leaks. I suggest trying a different brand because how much should you have to spend to fix a problem that shouldn't be there in the first place.

Waste of Money, Does nothing to reduce gas

Expensive bottles that provide no benefits. Switching to these provided absolutely no noticeable reduction in how gassy our kid was and the both 4 and 8 oz bottles leak like crazy. Following Dr Browns instructions doesn't help either. I am at a loss as to why there are so many 5 star reviews for these, I can only imagine we bought two sets both of which are defective? I can't imagine having your hand covered in gross formula every single time is fine for most people.

    BOTTLE LEAKS!!!

Baby milk flew everywhere while shaking my baby bottle. I took the lid off and tightened it again even tighter and the same thing happened again. My baby was only able to drink half a bottle because we were still forced to give it to him because it was the only bottle we brought with us to dinner. Milk leaked the entire time while he was drinking.

    Absolute lifesaver

This review is long overdue as my daughter is now 18 months old. When our little one was about 2 weeks old, she had severe silent reflux and a tongue tie that caused her to have very significant feeding issues. As a newborn she essentially stopped latching during nursing. After clipping her tongue, she had a hard time not only with nursing but with bottle feeding. We started occupational therapy and consulted with feeding specialists and happened to come upon these bottles. These bottles were an absolute lifesaver! The ONLY thing that worked for our little girl. I truly believe that these bottles saved us during a very difficult time. Thank you to Dr Browns for making such a wonderful product for babies with special feeding needs.

    Leaks if side feeding

I would say they are great for the nipple options, but #I is too fast after having baby on preemie nipples before. And side feeding is necessary to slow down the flow. However, if nanny is drinking from this bottle sideways, the bottles leak, no matter how well I align and assure everything is assembled properly. I am exclusively pumping and it’s aggravating to watch the milk just drip out as I feed my baby.

    DONT BUY

I hate these bottles. They are the absolute worst bottles I have ever tried. They are uncomfortable for baby and no matter what I tried these bottles leak so horribly. I would loose ounces of milk from these bottles leaking!!!! It was so disappointing since my production was already down! Not to mention the 1 million pieces these bottles have that you have to take them all apart and clean them. And you have to buy separate brushes to clean the bottles with which they don’t tell you! Why doesn’t it just come with them? Please don’t waste your money on these. I thought I was the only one but my friend told me the same thing that all they did for her was leak. It’s beyond frustrating and I’m happy I got these for my baby shower. I wouldn’t even spend a penny on these.
