Q: Do these bottles work for rice cereal mixed with formula?
submitted by Rachel - 2 years ago
A: Thank you for your e-mail. We recommend checking with your pediatrician prior to adding cereal to a bottle. All of our nipples are designed for liquid flow so you will need to test several levels of nipples to determine what is appropriate when adding rice cereal. We recommend starting with a level 2 or 3 and adjust accordingly to the baby’s needs.

I'm not sure what happened to these bottles compared to 10yrs ago when i had my last child but these are no where close to as good as i remember them to be. They are constantly leaking all over the place and leave a mess all over my baby regardless of the fact that yes i have them put together correctly.
Leaky but otherwise useful bottles

I so wish I could give 5 stars because my babies do love them. However, as a FTM of twin 4 month olds, I truly cannot think of anything they frustrates me more than these horribly leaky bottles. When I think about how many ounces of pumped milk I’ve lost over the last 4 months because of these I just want to cry. Every feeding my hands, my body and the babies end up with spilled milk everywhere. I’ve tried every “hack” and trick to get them not to leak to no avail, and frankly I don’t have the time or energy to spend hours researching how the heck people get them not to leak. I’ll use them and recommend them because they do reduce air intake but as a heads up, you and baby will be wet by the end of every feed, and it’s wildly annoying at 3 am when you’re trying to just give a bottle real quick and head back to bed.

When my newborn struggled with breastfeeding, we switched to pumped milk, using these bottles. He does great with them and has little to no gas problems following use.

I like the shape of these, and appreciate how easy the volume lines are to read! I have tried a bunch of different bottles and am sticking with these exclusively now!

Pros: fantastic job at preventing the baby from getting in air Cons: all these bottles do is leak, they are not overfilled or anything, the constant leaking is ridiculous! Traveling with these bottles is a nightmare as well due to the leaking! If you have a gassy baby these are great, but they come at price of constantly being covered in milk
They did work on our baby

We had bought other bottles that claimed to be anti colic and such but nothing worked. Our baby was super gassy. Since we changed bottles we noticed she's in a better mood and burps a lot more. Took her a bit to get used to the nipple but eventually learned. Only annoying part to them is the cleaning and assembly. If they aren't assembled correctly they will leak
Only bottle that helps my babies

The only bottles that help my babies colic. Bought them in 2016, and still have them in 2023! Bought some new ones recently and still love them. Hate cleaning them though!
Amazing for Formula

Works great for my newborn! The Avent bottles were just a little too loose.

My newborn loves these bottles! I purchased the premie nipples to go with these bottles and she has no issues and bottles don’t leak either. I tried avent regular and wide bottle she would spend so much time drinking milk but the oz wouldn’t go down. So went with dr.browns which is as close to the similac ready bottles that the hospital would give her similar nipple shape as well. Baby loves them! Happy baby = Happy momma

Do not use Dr browns bottles. These are the absolute worst bottles I have ever bought. They leak all over my daughter causing rashes. They are the WORST BABY BOTTLES to buy.

These bottles leak SO MUCH! Even when bottles are properly set up they leak like crazy. Wasted so much precious breastmilk. The caps are very loose, they don’t click in place and fall off easily. Such a hassle to wash all the parts. I highly recommend Avent Natural Flow bottles instead.

I love these bottles for avoiding a colicky baby, wonderful. I haven't had any issue with colic so far, however, they leak if they aren't standing upright. They've leaked in my diaper bag, they've leaked in my pocket. How in the world can you ha e a leaky baby bottle? That is enough to make me gi e a low rating. It's sad because they're great bottles but the fact that they leak is extremely annoying.

I did not like that they always leak wasting good breast milk and making my baby cry because I have to take it away and fix it and even then still does not work. I do not recommend either don’t waste your money!!

I have used these bottles while babysitting. They worked fine then. Now after having my baby, I was gifted these and would have totally recommended these to anyone. Needless to say, I am horribly disappointed in these bottles both anti colic and natural flow. These bottles are leaky, some persons recommend not sterilizing with boiling water, but only with a steamer. Dr Brown needs to clarify this for all time sake. Formula is wasting and the mess is a frustrating disaster. Added to that, I cannot say that they prevent gas or colic in anyway because since using this product my baby is really gassy and has plenty gas. Overall I think we all deserve an explanation or a refund or an apology. It's not just the product. It's that the company is unapologetically standing by their product and either ignoring the reviews or being proud. Sad to say, I would rather invest in a drugstore, unbranded bottle just to know that I got my money's worth and little expectation
Not worth it after a month.

Liked these at first but dislike them now. My baby was born at 38 weeks and small, I used these with the premiee nipples and loved them until the flow just kept getting faster and the bottles started leaking all the time. I thought my baby had minor reflux and when I changed to the Philips avent and boon nourish bottles the spit up decreased by 80%.

These bottles are great. However it says that you can use them with or without the middle piece and when I used without the nipple collapses. I also thought they would fit on my spectra pump and they do not. They do fit on the dr browns hand pump though.

My baby will only take these bottles. They’re great and help with her gassy issues. Many complain about the different parts and cleaning them. I enjoy cleaning all the parts it does not bother me. They can leak if you go past the suggested line.
