Never reconneted
After constantly disconnecting from my phone, I deleted the app and reinstalled it. I ensured Bluetooth was functioning properly on my phone; however, I could never get the mug to connect. The lights on the mug flashed white-green-red ... nowhere on the website is this issue accounted for and I never got the mug to connect. Very frustrating and will never buy it again.

Mug is good, support is horrible
I love my mug….however, in less than a year, one of the pins in the charging plate has broken. I contacted support in September and they said this is covered under warranty. Great. Have I received the replacement yet? No. I have contacted support many times over the last couple of months and they told me the original replacement wasn’t in stock but gave me some alternate colours that are in stock. I selected one. Have I received that replacement yet? No I have asked, again, for an update and silence. Support seems very quick to respond, at first, but fails to deliver.

Cold and "empty"
It works occasionally. I have to fiddle with it endlessly to get it to start warming. Then it will shut off and say the cup is empty when it's completely full. And forget about trying to heat up half a glass, that will register empty every time and there is nothing you can do about it.

Feature Request
I Love the Ember mug, I've had mine for 5 Years and it's wonderful!!!......But i have a feature request! I would love a default setting with the Health X Ember setting, so I dont have to open the app for every cup of coffee to registrere the caffeine intake, thats so annoying!

Its Trash
I received the Ember as a birthday present in late September, and it’s now 10/29 — I’ve barely had it a month, and it’s already broken. I followed all the instructions carefully: hand washing only, keeping the coils dry, etc. Despite that, it won’t heat up or sense any liquid in my cup. I really wanted to love this, especially as a newly postpartum parent who relies on coffee, but every day I end up transferring my drink to a microwave-safe mug. Don’t waste your money — this is an overhyped luxury product that’s more trouble than it’s worth. Nothing will ever beat just a classic mug.

A MUST FOR COFFEE DRINKERS
I have purchased SIX total: personal use and as gifts. Pricey, but friends and family will love you for it! I will NEVER be without it! A MUST if you enjoy your coffee HOT with EVERY sip.

Really Disappointing
The cup has a couple major issues. 1) the app frequently disconnects from the cup. You have no idea how irritating it is to constantly need to set it it up again when you just woke up. 2) battery doesn’t last long. It must be charged every day. 3) the cup is plastic. Nobody likes a plastic mug.

Good Cup! Bad Charger!
The cups are nice. They work well. They don’t stay charged all that long but they get the job done. But… the charging plate has a little super cheap circuit board in it which hold the contacts for charging. They don’t last! So after buying 3 cups… they are now just that….. cups!

It has no equal I know of
Not a cheap product, but there is nothing else quite like it on the market, at least that I know of, and you get what you pay for. This product is near perfect for what is does. I tried the old “hot plate” models from the past and they just burn the coffee. This does exactly what it says it will do: keep your coffee at the temperature you select, and it does it very well. I have not had any issues with the charge plate as some have, but I suspect that strongly correlates to your water hardness. “Steve” is indeed a hero not only for having an engineers mind, and so a strong desire to figure out what the problem is, but also a desire to help others by publishing his discovery. Yea Steve! I would suggest always drying the bottom of the cup when cleaning, when you first put it on the charger you’ve probably noticed a ring of condensate from the cup: this is the water in between the rubber rings being “steamed” out by the heat the battery makes as it charges, so the dryer the better. Lastly, you really need the lid they make for this, ideally it would be included with all models. If you take cream in your coffee (like me) it’s simply required, otherwise you’ll get “milk skin” on the surface which is not good. And for every user it will at least DOUBLE the length of the battery time. Ember describes this quite clearly in their description of the lid, take them at their word. Buy with the lid and keep an eye on the charging pins and you’ll not regret it; excellent product overall!

A mixed feelings review
I have mix feelings about this mug. When I received it was truly happy with it, nice to always have a cup of warm coffee. The app could use improvement but it's not that mad to make me not want to use my mug. The issue I have with it is the coating inside started to peel. Considering the price of the mug I would expect it to last a lot longer. I also had to have the coaster replace because the pins weren't working and thus not making contact to charge. If you're looking for a long term mug I don't believe this is for you. If they price doesn't hurt you and willing to have to buy another one in a few years go for it, you'll love it.

Charging coaster will fail
I love the mug and use it all day, everyday. Unfortunately I've had three and the charging coaster has quit working on all three. It is always the same issue. The mug is useless because it won't charge.

Save your money! The charger doesn’t last…
The cup is fine. The charging coaster only lasts a few months. I’ve had two, and both have stopped working (with the same issue). I don’t know how the ratings are so high. A quick internet search reveals that this a very widespread issue.

Planned obsolescence isn't a good business model.
This is the second ember mug I've owned. the first was a 14oz mug that lasted about a year and a half till the coating on the bottom started to peel off. This time around I purchased a 10oz mug. This one lasted a year and 8 months seemingly because I switched to wooden spoons so as not to scratch the mug. still peeled off. these mugs cost way to much to have to replace every year and a half or so. I've contacted ember and all they'll do is offer a discount on a replacement since their warranty is only for a year. Likeeise the mug has issues telling if it's got liquid in it or not and will just turn off randomly. No updates or reseting will correct this issue long term. If you must get a ember, get the travel mug. It actually stays on and the interior is stainless steel so it shouldn't peel off after a year and a half. plus you can adjust the temperature without the phone app.

My husband gave this to me for Christmas last year. Worked great till 3 days ago when one of the knobs in the charger broke. Can’t see anything about a warranty on here. Not buying another charger.

Fire the app developer
I gotta be honest, I love my mug. As someone who drinks super slow, this is the perfect mug for me. However, the app control for the mug is SUCH UTTER TRASH I would never buy an Ember product ever again. I have had my mug almost 2 years now and the app has never gotten better. I dread the day my mug starts to die. The only saving grace is that you can put it on a setting and then it stays in that setting unless changed, so I don't *have* to use the app every time, I just have no way of knowing how charged it is. And I know it's not just me and my phone because I have had two different phones and also talked to other people with similar pairing issues. Do better Ember
