Description

Field Roast sausages are made using traditional, tried-and-true sausage-making practices. It begins with a grind made from Field Roast's own grain meat. Using fresh vegetables: eggplant, sweet peppers, onions and garlic. Add some liquid: rich red wine. And finally, mix in the seasonings: fennel seed, fresh garlic and voilà: an artisan plant-based sausage with sizzle, texture and personality.

I love this brand because everytime I cook it, my meat eater roommates want some because of how yummy it smells. Real flavors that are so appreciated after many Tofurkey years, I love these links.

I have been vegetarian for four years. I am very picky with alternative meat products. If the texture is wrong it’s all off. But this is so good. The texture is perfect which is hard to achieve with sausage. It tastes great and it’s easy to cook. The only thing I would change is that they have a plastic “casing” which connects them all. It’s hard to peel and just kind of annoying. I get that it’s to make it feel like “real” sausage but it’s kind of unnecessary. But as far as everything else I love it.

These are delicious!! The texture and taste are spot on to a sausage or brat. Some mustard and raw onions make a perfect grilled sausage. Perfect for summer time grilling

Glass in food

Fieldroast, which is owned by Maple Leaf Foods, does not make safe products. February 2019 there was glass in one of their products we purchased. We all stopped eating and discarded the remainder of our food after my husband bit into glass. When we called, it was a monday since they were not open during the weekend to take our call. We called and told them what had happened, blood in mouth, teeth and gum sensitivity, blood in stool. They told us they will send something to us to put the burger and glass in to return it to their lab. They sent coupons for more potentially harmful products that we did not use. That was their way of saying “sorry.” 3 MONTHS after we sent this to their lab I called back, the first week they didn’t answer my phone calls and the second they answered but I kept getting the receptionist who said that their supervisor would get back to me. That didn’t happen and I had to call back. I was wondering why they haven’t got in contact with us for these 3 months. She said they were “still working on it.” To me that means that they haven’t gotten to it yet, that there are god knows how many other cases of defective food items before ours that they are backed up. We continued with our claim and sent them everything we had, doctor and dentist visits, and proof of 2 days off of work and a home early showed on a paystub. They wanted more. We cannot give what we do not have. So this shows me that they don’t just have dangerous products on the shelves, but they don’t care about their customers. My husband now has sensitivity in his teeth and gums for life. If you’re reading this, please consider another product to protect yourself and those you care for. Fieldroast is putting potentially defective and dangerous products on market.

I have been happy to see that Target is (slowly) increasing its selection of plant-based foods. I am very picky when it comes to vegan sausages, and these are some of the best available anywhere. Apple and Sage is the best flavor in my opinion, but all of the flavors are great for this product. Up until now, I have had to seek these out at more expensive specialty stores. I am very glad that Target has decided to now offer Field Roast products!
