Ripped Seam During First Wash

Washed immediately upon opening so I could use it on my child's new bed & a seam ripped the first time it was washed. I will be sewing the tear & using it anyway because practically all the waterproof mattress protectors have terrible reviews, so guess this is as good as it gets?

Haven’t tested water resistance but it is very comfortable & fits well (even on really deep mattresses with a memory foam topper.
