We are big fans of the Baby Believer series and this is probably my favorite book yet! Having all boys, this particular book can be read quite interactively as we use our different speaking voices to recite to scripture on each page back to each other. The illustrations are bright, colorful, and simply beautiful in articulating the meaning behind each word. I’m thankful for a durable, shorter book that is an easy grab night after night and packed full of scripture!

Danielle has done it again! We have loved this series so much and God Speaks just adds more to love for us! I was curious to see how my kiddos would like this one since we have a few favorites from this series, but we’ve offically added another! Their favorite page is “ECHOOO” :) I love how well they capture my children’s attention and how quickly they’ve been able to learn scripture from these books!! This book has vibrant colors, fun words, and makes reading straight from scripture interactive and fun - even for my 11 year old! An added bonus is that they are such a easy and wonderful gift to give. Highly recommend adding to your home library!

Another great Baby Believer book. You just cannot beat the colors and illustrations in this series! One of my favorite aspects of this particular book is that it teaches children different facets of who God is, and those are reflected in how He speaks to us. His rumbling and thundering show us his power and authority, while his gentle whispering and calling to His sheep show us that He is a gentle Father who loves and leads his children tenderly. May this book remind us to pause, stop, and listen as our God speaks, to allow His Word to train us in righteousness, so that His glory echoes through all the world. Are you listening?

Another amazing book in the Baby Believer book series! I can’t remember how I came across these but as soon as I did, I added them all to my toddler’s Christmas list. This latest one has beautiful illustrations, as usual. This book is a hit with my little one who loves to make a joyful noise. As a mom wanting to disciple my children as they walk through life, I appreciate the Scripture woven throughout these books.

“Raaaorr” “shhh” “bambambaaaa” are the sounds my little one makes as I read her this book. Not only does the newest Baby Believer follow in the steps of its sister books in bringing scripture-centered concepts to little ears in a tangible way, it makes it FUN. I have loved watching my daughter learn more about the character of God through sound. And hearing her adorable attempts at trumpet sounds! My children and I will enjoy reading (and gifting!) this book for years to come!!

This beautiful and Biblically accurate board book primer is absolute perfection. The illustrations are stunning just like every other Baby Believer book! I am a huge fan of this series and love getting them as gifts as well as for my own kiddos! The Scripture throughout is creatively woven with different sounds that engage kids while simultaneously imparting Biblical wisdom! Doesn’t get much better than that! I highly recommend this book!!

The Baby Believer series is a favorites in our home. Finding biblically sound children’s books is difficult these days, but I know I can trust the Baby Believer series. I love how this book pairs scripture with sound, it is perfect for my music loving seven year old, but also great for my one year old who is exploring and learning. Not only is the book full of scripture, it is also beautiful; we have our books out in our living room for everyone to see.
The illustrations and colors on the pages really put a cherry on top. I highly recommend this book and all the Baby Believer books!

This book speaks to such a primal part of children: noise! I love how the pages just seem to leap out at the kids, encouraging them to be fun and creative as they try to mimic the noises. Danielle has such a knack for taking basic learning principles for children and using those principles to teach children about God. You can tell that the scriptures that Danielle chose for each sound are so intentional. She didn't just do a random search for scripture that included sounds. She purposefully curated the scripture to help show so many ways that God presented himself to man through sounds. Danielle was able to make such beautiful, and complex scriptural connections and convey them in the simplest of ways. I love all of Danielle's books and am so impressed with each new topic. I also LOVE the illustrations. Jessica delivers such beautiful illustrations for each one of Danielle's books.

Danielle Hitchen’s “Baby Believer” series has been a staple in my children’s library since the very first book was published. These beautifully illustrated books communicate deep and ancient truths to little ones about the character and nature of God and the rich theology we have through His word in appropriate and meaningful ways that little ones can engage with. Every one of these books is so special and the newest, “God Speaks- A Sound Primer” is no exception. With its vibrant colors and lively illustrations, you can actually feel and see the sound that the pages are describing. Each sound contains a corresponding scripture that is the perfect length to meditate on or memorize with your children. As a mom, reading this book with my children invites me to experience Gods word in a multi sensory way alongside my tiny disciples and I’m so grateful to Danielle for creatively crafting books geared towards our youngest members that invite families to make sacred space in their hearts for the living and active word of God.

In our age of distraction, it seems harder than ever to hear the voice of God. Danielle Hitchen’s “God Speaks: a Sounds Primer” beautifully pairs everyday sounds - the crackle of fire, the howl of the wind, a whisper from a friend - with scripture of how God speaks to His people. Reading this book with my children broadens our imaginations of how God might speak to us. Whether it’s a roar of rushing water or the rumble of thunder, this book shows us that “the world is charged with the grandeur of God”. He is near and may this book inspire us to turn off distractions and attune our ears to listen for Him. My children’s favorite is the “blare” page, with the picture of trumpets and a verse from Revelation that Christ died, yet is alive forevermore. My favorite page is where “rustle” is accompanied by a picture of a Bible’s turning pages, where I’m reminded that even reading this board book to my children, filled with scripture, is a way that God might speak to us in our own homes.

As a mama, Christian, and educator, I’ve been a BIG fan of the “Baby Believer” series for years. The Baby Believers series has graced our shelves and our devotion time for many years now and we are all (aged newborn to 10 to mama!) thrilled to add God Speaks to our growing collection. I have no doubt that this newest addition will become as treasured as the rest of the Baby Believer volumes are for our family. It will be used as a discipleship tool in our home for years to come! What a sweet blessing to raise our little ones up knowing that God is not silent, but rather delights in actively speaking to His children through His word. As always, these are quality board books, full of striking and engaging illustrations that carefully match the text and truths being taught. Well done, Baby Believers, well done!

I discovered the Baby Believer series about a year ago when I started creating my baby registry for my now 6 month old daughter. I care so deeply that we surround her with books and other things that are theologically sound and will teach her about God at a very young age. These books are amazing in that aspect! Danielle’s most recent book, God Speaks, is no different. She is so intentional about including scripture in each and every one of her pages included with vibrant, eye-catching illustrations from the illustrator. This book is beautiful and interactive. My daughter just stares and stares at the colorful pages and we have so much fun making each of the sounds. I cannot wait to include many more Baby Believer books in our growing library!

We love each and every one of the Baby Believer books, but there is something special to me about this one. God speaking to us can be a difficult concept for little ones (even grown ups too) because we don't see him with our eyes and hear him with our ears. This book, with captivating illustrations and words taken straight out of the Bible, helps little ones to see and better understand the ways that God speaks to us. Each page spread features a sound word with a corresponding verse, and I feel like Danielle did such a beautiful job selecting these. Little ones can hear the ways that God has spoken to people in the past, imagine the way He sounds like a roaring waterfall or a crackling fire. It sparks the imagination. The illustrations are vibrant and beautiful, for both children and adults. These books are ones I am always recommending to other Christian families, and I commend them to you as well! God Speaks: A Sound Primer is a wonderful book that your family is sure to love and be blessed by.

We love all the baby believer books and “God Speaks” is no exception! Danielle is so creative in using Biblical topics that not only teach spiritual matters but are also educational in physical growth! I love using these in my prek Sunday School, but I have thought of different ways to use it for older children as well… the verses could used as a scripture memory guide, or you could look them up and dive deeper into the stories they come from for more context and Bible study with your kids. You could play a match the verse to the sound game and see if your kids can guess one or the other. I think this book and the “psalms of praise” ones are my favorites. ♥️

The very first book I ever read to my daughter was a Baby Believer book, so this series will always hold a special place in my heart. I love these books, and they are my go to baby gifts. However, this latest book exceeded even my already very high expectations. My one year old loves imitating sounds, so this book is right up her alley. As always, the pictures are stunning and the Scriptures that are used are chosen intentionally and never feel forced. We love this series, and this new book is one of the best.

Another wonderful addition to the Baby Believer collection, God Speaks is fantastic! Each sound is easy to act out for young children and helps the scripture used to be remembered. My children love reading it and looking at the beautiful illustrations.

It’s not always easy to find theologically sound children’s books that are also easy for kids of ALL ages to understand and enjoy while not being over wordy…but Danielle Hitchen has about perfected it. God Speaks is a wonderful addition to the Baby Believer series. It seamlessly combines Scripture describing God’s communication to His people and a variety of [sometimes unique] sound effects & onomatopoeia. My 9, 7, 5, & 1 year olds all enjoy reading this book, mimicking the sounds, reading the Bible verses, and studying the pictures. Jessica Blanchard, as usual, created beautiful and fitting illustrations for each pairing. I recommend these books all the time and love to give them as gifts. If you’re debating, you won’t be mad that you got it!

“Make a joyful NOISE unto the Lord”, Psalm 100 says. And doesn’t it always seem like there’s noise?? Life is filled with it… The chaos, the chatter, the thoughts swirling thru our heads, the temptations and doubts, the physical loud sounds all around us. But also the silence…the ‘I love you’d’, the songs of worship, the whisper of God’s still small voice in our soul. Although this book was for the kids, I personally was touched by its attention all the noises God uses in the Bible, how he uses sounds to draw our attention, give us signs, show us the way! My girls loved the neat pictures and designs and how it really made them think of the ways God speaks to us…beyond words and in the neatest ways!

Like the previous Baby Believer books, "God Speaks" is encouraging, creative, beautiful, theologically sound, and formational. It interests even the smallest readers like my 10-month-old and provides enough depth that we will be able to keep reading it with him for years to come as he grows in his understanding of who God is and what it means to have a relationship with him. Each sound (e.g. echo, whisper, crackle, blare) is accompanied by a verse that links to a much larger story in scripture, providing an opportunity for discipleship about how God relates to his people alongside vibrant colors and descriptive words. More than anything else, this is the most valuable lesson of this book: that God speaks, and we can know him.
