About this item

Highlights

  • Made of durable rubber material
  • Features a pebbled grip surface
  • Includes one 15lb medicine ball and a training manual
  • Great for core strengthening

Description

Medicine balls build core trunk strength and joint integrity. You may ask why is this important? Core trunk strength is the key to most athletic moves (i.e. golf swing, throwing a baseball, martial arts, blocking and tackling in football), the problem is the body is a chain and is only as strong as its weakest link. The trunk is generally the weakest link. All sports trainers now recognize core strength training as the logical starting point for an effective training program. Joint integrity is the other vital benefit of Medicine Ball training. Often athletes over strengthen muscles at the expense of joint strength and no matter how strong your muscles are you are only functionally as strong as your joints. You see this often in injuries to shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. Medicine Ball training is designed to strengthen these areas and allows you to more fully access your muscle strength. Includes: One Medicine Ball and Training Manual.

The ball in the picture is bright blue and black. The ball I received is covered in white ash. It looks very old and used. No idea why Target sent me this damaged item.

I enjoy using the weighted balls at my gym. This one is smaller than the medicine balls you would traditionally see in a gym but it works best for storage limits. I keep this in a corner of my office and use it while at work. Excellent option for increasing the intensity of your workouts. It also comes with a booklet with some ideas for usage. Feels like a weighted basket ball - same material.

It's a good medicine ball for training. It's good for use at home or to take it to a gym or even your backyard if you have one.

I saw on youtube a medicine ball workout and thought it looked fun and different. After looking at several medicine balls I decided on the go fit package with dvd because it seemed a reasonable price for what I was purchasing. I received the product within a couple days and was able to get right into the workout immediately. it is everything as described and I finding out I have more muscle fibers than originally realized.

The ball is a ball... easy to hold on to, throw and even bounce. Since it is 12lbs it makes a lot of noise when bounced. The disk that came with it wasn't worth watching if you do not have a partner to catch the ball or a brick/sturdy wall to throw against.

There are lots of medicine balls out there. This type can bounce without aid of a trampoline so you can throw against a wall without harming yourself or the ball. Other types either don't bounce or have breakable internal parts. Also, the nubby covering is easy to grip and is in my opinion nicer than the other bouncable versions.

The medicine ball is rugged, solid, and easy to grip even at the end of a workout when one is dripping sweat (I would have thought the opposite). The included DVD is quite helpful, though some of the exercises are not practical if you live in an apartment on the fifth floor... Altogether, though, I would recommend this to anyone who wants a change from the usual cardio work, or just a break from weightlifting.
