This typically means you manually open a lid or door on the top of the boombox, place the CD in the tray, and then close the lid. When you want to remove the CD, you usually manually lift it out after opening the lid again. Products of this type (portable boomboxes) generally do not have an automatic eject mechanism that pushes the CD out with a button press. The "eject" function you might see on some CD players is usually for disc drives that load CDs from a slot, not a top-loading mechanism. So, you will need to manually take the CDs out yourself after opening the top lid.
