Q: Can this go into the oven and/or broiler?

submitted by ShopperFun - 3 years ago
  • A: No.no.no. and hell no. The plastic handle just melted on the stove top. Not in direct heat source. I would not put this in the oven or on a stove top or even use it as a rain catch basin. Just no.

Q: What are the materials used for the pan, not just including the non-stick surface? Does it contain any type of aluminum?

submitted by question - 3 years ago
  • A: The interior of the pan has a pillow of aluminum as it is a great heat conductor and helps the pan ti retain the heat. The exterior and interior of the Rio pans are ceramic coated.

Five star for ease of cleaning

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, I really like the Rio 12" frying pan. Clean up is an absolute breeze with the ceramic nonstick coating. You can either hand wash or put the entire pan in the dishwasher. Having a frying pan that is also oven safe makes my one pot meals even easier. The fun green color of the ceramic pan matches my kitchen and adds a splash of color leaving it out on the range. Having a healthy pan free of lead and cadmium keeping my family safe while cooking our favorite meals is the best part!

OUTSTANDING TWELEVE INCH FAMILY SKILLET

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This non stick diamond coated tweleve inch skillet is amazing. It is non stick and for once I dont have to worry about the coating inside peeling. I am not a great cook and even burning pork chops the breading didnt stick to the pan. The Green pan is actually turquoise in color. The green refers to the great diamond coating th Love the color is user friendly. No scratches after you clean. I plan to adding a smaller size skillet. Love the happy color.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Rio frypan is a nice addition to our cookware. The color is fun and the size is perfect. We have used it for eggs, pancakes, meats and stir fry. Have found it to be non-stick and easy to clean . Avoid using metal utensils to prolong life.

Despite using oil, everything sticks and the cooking surface became worse in a matter of weeks. Cooked with it about 10 times and it’s pretty much useless now.

I am very sorry to hear about the issues with your cookware. This issue can be easily resolved! It is likely that you have a layer of carbonized oil built up on your pan that will create a barrier between the pan and your food. When this happens, you are basically cooking on the layer of oil as opposed to the surface of the pan. This layer may not be visible. This cleaning method has proven to be extremely successful and can be used when you notice staining and/or sticking. For best results, please try this method twice. Once complete, you may resume normal washing with soap and sponge. Fill the pan halfway with water and bring it to a near boil for about 2 minutes. Pour out the water and place the pan on a sturdy surface such as a wooden cutting board. Carefully use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on the warm surface, this should do the trick. If this does not work, please email GreenPan directly at customercare.us@greenpan.com. They are happy to help!

This pan is hands down my favorite pan to cook with. It is truly nonstick when used correctly (with cooking oil/spray and medium to low heat). I do hand wash to ensure it is well kept but it easily wipes clean. This is the only pan I will ever purchase.

This pan was wonderful for the first 10-15 uses but then the non-stick surface stopped working and it became impossible to clean even when using oil to cook.

Will not consider this as a healthier alternative to traditional non-stick pan

Considering the amount of oil it needs to achieve the non-stick (and still sticking sometimes) effect, I would not consider this pan is better for my health than a traditional non-stick pan. It is also super hard to clean, mine stains every time I cook.

My first attempt using this pan I fried a couple eggs on medium heat with a nylon spatula using butter. I know it is nonstick but I like the flavor. After letting the pan cool for at least an hour I was hand washing it with a non abrasive sponge and noticed a brown discoloration on about 1/3 of the pans surface. This was sad on a pan I was so careful with. I will never buy one of these green pans again. Thankfully I only purchased the one pan and not a whole set.
