[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this game! My husband and I are both in our late 50's and we thoroughly enjoy this game. We have played it a few times now, and just have a ball trying to decipher all the clues. It generally takes us about 20-30 minutes to play, depending on how much talking we do. The game comes with clue cards, wooden keys, 4 briefcases, 4 case files, 4 dry erase markers and a code card and is recommended for ages 8+. The object of the game is to use deductive reasoning to try and figure out which of the three "criminals" committed the theft from Cliffrock Villa. As I said my husband and I have had a great time playing the game and can't wait to play it with our 12-year-old granddaughter.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids are 9 and 11 and were the perfect ages to play this game. This game is unique and so nice for them to play something fun that also uses their minds! It also feels a little more grown up than most games we have, and they liked that aspect, too. The goal of the game is to determine which criminal stole what, and how, using clues, logic, and deductive reasoning. The cards are clues and will help you rule things in or out and each player has a little white board they can keep track of their ideas on. We played a couple different rounds and we could have kept playing! Definitely a great family game for kids who can read and are 8+. Haba has great quality and unique products!
Great Game for Family Game Night!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Family Game Night in our household is taken very seriously. Every other Friday we make it a point to get the family together, have a big dinner, and play a few games. It was my daughters turn to pick a game and she decided on HABA The Key: Theft at Cliffrock Villa. After sitting down and going through the directions, we decided the partner each child with an adult. The directions are extremely thorough and explain the game well. When finished with the directions, I felt confident this was something my children would enjoy but definitely need help on. One of the problems we have during Game Night is patience. My children become impatient and almost bored having to wait for turns during a game. There have been many games that never get finished because they lose interest or it lasts too long. In The Key everyone works at the same time. That created excitement for everyone in our group. The first round we did took us a little longer than I had thought but the kids had a blast! We learned it is not who finished fastest that wins either. The kids loved the problem solving and finding clues. Our family finished two puzzles on our Family Game Night. I’ve noticed when picking games I try to find easier ones that will hold the Children’s attention. After playing this game, the adults had just as much fun as the children. I think having to use logic and find clues was exciting for everyone. I love puzzles and having to use logic in a fun way was the best part of game night. My advice for this game is to really sit down and read the directions. I’m glad we went through them thoroughly because knowing what to do the whole game made playing go smoothly. I’m also very happy we put the kids with an adult partner. My eight year old was probably the biggest fan of this game but I think she would have had a very hard time if she wasn’t partnered with my wife. The game comes with several puzzles and they can all be played over and over. The family plans on playing again next Game Night. It was a huge hit and we are excited to figure out the next puzzle!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband and I played this game with our 10 year old son. Figuring out how to play was simple and the rules were easy to follow and remember. As you play more you sort of pick up different techniques and strategies you can use so that makes it pretty fun. The clues you get have different point values so it's not all a luck of the draw type game. I love logic puzzles so this was a hit for me. We all enjoy it. I like that you can play it alone too, which I did after my family was over it. haha! I definitely recommend it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First reaction when I opened this game and saw all of these pieces and numerous instructions was that this was not for a small kid. It was a lot to figure out and get my 10 year old to figure out. Now in saying that, once I realized this was like working out logic problems it was a piece of cake for both of us. You have to realize that you need to keep going over all your cards everytime to get one. I don’t think an 8 year old would be able to do it but maybe. The one hiccup I see if we play this often by is memorizing the answers. There are only so many colors to choose from. I tend to memorize repetitive games. Cool game otherwise and I may look for more like this.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Key: Theft at Cliffrock Villa game is great to play with the family. My children are 7 and 10. So we played as teams, one adult with one child and it was fun. It's a little challenging but I like how each player can go at their own pace. It's fun to try to figure out who done it. The whole family enjoyed it. Lots of laughs and trying to outsmart each other.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is not your regular board game! Key: Theft in Cliffrock Villa is unlike any other game we own! It is a mixture between the game Clue and logic puzzles. You’ll have to use the clue cards and logic to eliminate possibilities in order to solve the crime. The rules are lengthy but very thorough. I recommend reading the shortened rules on page 11 first to get a general understanding of the game before reading the more detailed instructions. Despite long instructions, gameplay is fairly easy however my 9 year old daughter still needs some help with certain clues. There are no turns and everyone tries to solve the case at the same time. It’s not really about who solves the case the fastest but more about who solves the case with the lowest amount of points. Since the fastest person does not always win, we made small changes to the rules and every player pulls a new clue cards at the same time instead of “rushing” to find the solution. The Key: Theft in Cliffrock Villa is a great game for young and old and I love that it can be played by yourself or with a group of up to four players which makes it perfect for Family Game Nights! The first time we played the game, we played it 3 times in a row…. Overall, all components of the game are well made and well thought out. I’m always impressed by the quality of HABA toys & games and this game did also not disappoint!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our family ranging in ages from 9 to 41 sat down to play The Key for family game night. As with any new game the first thing everyone complains about is how long does it is going to take to learn the rules. After reading them all out loud and looking through all the items we were set to start in about 15 minutes. Gameplay the first round went pretty smoothly with lots of laughs and some confusion. In less than 20 minutes everyone was ready to present their evidence and test the key. Everyone got the correct answer the first round and we had a moment where we thought maybe this game is too easy. So we dove into the second game. This time everyone was about three minutes faster but two teams missed the answer! The third round everyone slowed down a bit and got more tactical in their search for the thief. Our entire family enjoyed the game, felt it was unique and loved the fast pace of gameplay. Great game!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this for my oldest child and they love it! We had so much fun looking for clues and deciphering things. Very fun for any age in my opinion. My middle child, 3, joined in a little bit with my help. We had a great time playing this game and it took us a couple days to finish it! My oldest wants to keep it and wait a few years then play it again.
