A: Thank you for your question. The 5% solution is not approved for female use by the FDA as the women's version is 2% and men's is 5%. Studies have shown it works no better in women than minoxidil topical solution 2%. Some women may also grow facial hair.

It just works.
I’ve been using it everyday for 6 months and can definitely notice a difference. Im 41 and losing my hair in the typical spots like lots of other men my age. I drop it onto my scalp and use a scalp massager to spread it around. I started noticing a difference after a few months of use. Now 6 months in and there’s gradually even more hair. Took me a long time to try and I’m glad I did. It will itch though. And there will be times it will itch pretty bad during the day. Make sure you use a shampoo like head and shoulders. It helps.

Money saved, but just okay?
I bought this version, instead of the foam, to bring for air travel. I’m not 100% sure if it’s really helping with my thinning hair on the top of my head, but I did start to use it towards the front of my hairline too, and I did notice it getting thicker there. My biggest complaint is that it seems to leave some residue in your hair, which I don’t remember noticing when using rogaine brand foam minoxidil… I’m not sure if that’s because of the brand or foam vs liquid application.

Should I continue?
My dermatologist told me to use this strength of minoxidil once a day. I am a woman, but she said that it didn’t matter. I have seen some improvement but it hasn’t been dramatic. I’m on the fence about continuing.
